glänta Kyoto Sanjo Kawaramachi — Attraction in Kyoto

Went today with my girlfriend to get a special piece of jewellery to commemorate our travels. The initial process was fine although a little stressful due to how busy the shop is. We got the same design, one gold rounded edge, one silver flat edge both at 3mm thickness.

On picking them up, my gold ring was significantly thinner than the silver ring. When we asked about this and said it wasn’t 3mm they said that’s just because it’s a rounded edge however even when held together the gold is not close to being as wide. They said there was nothing they could do and as we had already paid we had to suck it up. We offered to pay more to get it redone/made flatter to be wider as this was supposed to be a special thing for us but they just said no. Because the staff are so busy as well we couldn’t have one conversation with someone as they were all doing about 3 things at once.

We then spent another couple of hours in town before heading back to our hotel. There, my girlfriend took off her silver ring to find after only such a short period of time it has left a green band. She wears other 925 silver rings daily which have never left a green stain after a full day of wear.

Awesome experience!! Upon arrival we did not have a reservation and saw a sign saying one was required. When looking online to book a reservation there were no spots open however when we came in and asked they still allowed us to come in and experience the ring making workshop where me and my husband got to go through the process of creating our rings. They gave us the option to create our own or design each others along with plenty of designs to choose from! Staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful!! As we were going through the process they gave us our space to have fun and be creative while occasionally checking in, we even got complimented on how well we were doing. This was such an awesome experience and they have plenty of options to choose from to meet everyone’s needs! Prices range depending on the type of material, size, and thickness to fit all types of budgets. If you do not want to take the workshop class you can still come in and design your own ring while the workers do all the work to meet your expectations!! They definitely go above and beyond and I 1000000/10 recommend!!! I definitely plan on coming back just to experience it again!! They also do engravings on the rings...

The staff are nice and I ultimately got a quality engraved bangle after going here. But i give it 3 stars for a number of reasons.

If there is a design you like from the website or instagram, it might not be at this store.

This was disappointing because I had waited over an hour in line outside (they don’t seem to accept reservations unless for the workshop), and was told at the Osaka umeda location that the options were same in Kyoto, but they didn’t have the bangle I had hoped to get. I also noticed there were more ring choices in Osaka.

The kawaramachi store is so small and busy, it’s not really set up to allow you to browse the options before waiting in line.

Would recommend the new osaka umeda location, as it’s much less busy, practically empty. If you go to kawaramachi, expect to wait a long time even if the line looks short

Ultimately, if you are going to have people wait in the sun with no seating in the summer, it would have been nice if all the ring/bracelet options had been available.

The location and stock is ultimately way too small for the high traffic area that it’s in.
