Taishogun Shopping Street - Ichijo Yokai Street — Attraction in Kyoto

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by an array of bizarre and captivating monsters, such as the legendary Kuchisake-Onna (the eerie woman with a wide, sinister grin) and the mischievous Kappa water demon—each one lovingly crafted into a nearly lifelike piece of art.

You’ll also find that every shop along Youkai Street showcases the finest in traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Whether you’re browsing a bustling sweet shop or admiring delicate hand-sewn trinkets, the atmosphere is as friendly as it is immersive. The street is definetely easy to find, but I can not say it's a big / long / very exciting. I love yokai's and I enjoy strolling around to look for some of them hidden next to the shop entrance :) but most of the shops are closed during the most period of time in the week, what means all yokai's stays inside the closed shops - owners put them out only when shop is open. Hwever the street has my favourite coockie shop. And it definetely worth to visit at least once - you will surely spot at least 3 yokai's there...

I don't really write reviews but felt it important to call this one out. Monster street was out of the way and a REAL disappointment. Sad shops with about three to five monsters in total. If there were loads of the quirky things, perhaps I'd go, but as it stands I'd pass on it as a waste of time.
