Great experience, super helpful staff. Would love to take all their courses!
We did the sushi rolling course and learned so many helpful tips and traditional tidbits of info along the way (I’ve never made sushi before, so was usefully geared towards beginners.) This particular company was recommended via a friend but I didn’t book ahead of time, unfortunately. Afterwards, instructor was kind enough to chat and answer questions, offering some local tips to pick up items, etc. Very sweet, generous, traditional Japanese hospitality - feels like you’re in a home. And it’s a 100 year old building, so that was a cool...
Read moreMyself and my husband did the Kyoto’s food market walking tour and the cookery class last week!
Our guide for the walking tour was really informative and courteous, didn’t go too quickly which I appreciate as we had time to take everything in and even stop when we wanted to try food/drinks in the market!
Then we got to the Wak Japan house and we followed a cookery class by Mieko Nomura. She was so friendly, helpful, welcoming and also humorous 😊 She offered to take pictures of us while we were cooking and she was so sweet.
The food that we made turned out delicious under Mieko’s guidance and we enjoyed the dinner at the end 😋
Thanks so much, it was a lovely time and we will cherish this experience...

She kept giving the two women in class chores until I asserted myself by telling her I was there to learn too and not just observe. The class was simple, she did a lot of things we should have been doing to learn. All in all a nice atmosphere, good will and pleasant. I surmise it's just...
