This is a beautiful old shop selling traditional Japanese incense. You can try out a bunch of the different scents and find your favorite. There is a huge selection of traditional blends but at the same time, they also have created a bunch of new smells to cater to the younger generation. If I recall correctly, there is also some Disney? selection that you can try. The one thing I didn’t like was that I found a particular scent and really wanted it but it’s part of a 4 scent bundle where you have to get 3 other scents you may or may not like. They also offer tax refund with 0 fees...

Having visited other incense shops in Kyoto and other cities, this particular shop was the exact opposite of ometenashi. Staff never acknowledged us upon entering nor offered any assistance when I tried to inquire about scent. Instead they just pointed to their shelves saying asoko meaning I was to go back and look over there by myself. Problem is that the scent I was looking for has changed packaging and I did not know it’s new design and they would not assist...
