We (1 adult, 2 teens) stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We had a simple western-style room with 3 twin beds and bathroom. The room was small but clean and comfortable. We were able to use the laundry facilities, though the dryer wasn’t quite up to the task. The customer service team all speak excellent English and are very helpful. I miscounted our luggage when sending it on to Osaka, and they cheerfully helped me scramble to re-pack everything just before the pick-up time. I found the hotel to be a good value overall.
The on-site breakfast is incredible, with a wide range of both Japanese and western breakfast items. Everything was plentiful and quite tasty. They do not serve dinner, but there are a few nice restaurants quite close by, and more if you’re willing to walk a little further. (Though do take care, as many of the surrounding residential areas are not well-lit after dark.)
Easy walk to the train station. Sightseeing within walking distance includes the manga museum, Kyoto Gyoen National Garden, and Nijo Castle. The hotel also offers free daily shuttles to Arashiyama and Ginkaku-ji (Golden Temple). Recommended if you’re looking for a good place to sleep and then use as a launchpad for your day’s activities, especially if you enjoy getting...
Read moreThis hotel is exceptional. So many things to speak highly of: The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. They securely held our baggage when we arrived early. They offer a free a hotel shuttle to and from the Kinkaku’ji Golden Temple which is a do-not-miss sight in Kyoto. The breakfast in the lobby each more is delicious and has a huge variety of options. They had a free sake tasting in the lobby, but this was maybe just for New Years. The subway station is next door and a major bus stop a block away, made it easy for us to explore every corner of Kyoto. There is a supermarket and convenience store right next door with everything we needed. The rooms are clean and felt spacious enough for my family. The beds were comfortable and the shower was so nice after a long day of exploring. Overall, the value you get for your money here is excellent. No...
Read moreNot good If you have kids. If you have an allergy to dust - not a great place as despite asking for the room to be cleaned it was dusty on the surfaces. The TV suggested as you turned it on that you would have access to netflix. This was the official Monday hotel screen saver. The truth is you don't. The staff apologised that this service did not exist. There is no ability to stream movies so your kids will need to be happy to read nandplay card games like ours did. Breakfast is Japanese, a couple of croissants and pan au chocolat are the non Japanese options.
The good things are the nice staff. They advised a cheaper service for luggage delivery to Osaka.
If you are travelling with a family, it's not a great option. Does he job, but your not going to walk away thinking you stayed...
