The Morioka Castle is perhaps the most well known landmark to visit in Morioka. Please note you will not find an actual castle here. If you're from Canada, it's more of a city park with a few monuments. There is a totem pole from Vancouver Island here! There were two stray cats here. One of which followed us for nearly twenty minutes. The cat was adorable. We then entered the museum. The first floor has a few displays and videos from traditional Morioka festivals. They were all free to access. The museum on the second floor is paid entry, but I didn't enter as I wasn't in a mood to read that day. I highly recommend checking this area out!

The park grounds are huge and there's plenty of space to walk around and explore. My friends and I were here during the sakura season and it was really beautiful. There are different species of the cherry blossom trees found here, some more pink and others are more white, still a beautiful sight and i like how each tree differs from the next to create a nice blend. The weather was great and the park was not crowded, you could just chill, take photos, sit at the bench and just enjoy nature, it's the best kind of vacation.

The family visited this site enroute from Sendai to Aomori. There are parking lots available right below the park. The castle building is no longer there but there are remnants of its past like the stone walls and such. It’s interesting to have a slow stroll around the park, especially now that we are nearing the winter season. Some nice pictures can be taken around the castle ruin as well like there is a small bridge right at the centre. From one corner, I could actually see mount awate from a distance.

I learnt a bit of history here! Morioka is Victoria, Bristish Columbia's sister city. Nice totem pole in the park to celebrate the friendship between the cities. It is a beauty green lush space. You can really relax here and enjoy the views while learning a bit about the ruins and musuems nearby. Parking is a bit pricey as the rate on the street charges you ¥200/hour or underground parking lot charges you ¥150/half hour.

beautiful and near the city center while also close to a shrine and the local history museum. have come here multiple times and it’s always wonderful regardless of the weather. you can see the ruins/walls of where the local castle once stood. they have a local crafts fair here in the fall which was very nice. if you’re in the area, i highly recommend it.
