Meoto Daikokusha (夫婦大國社) is a revered sub-shrine of the famous Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara, Japan. Nestled in the tranquil grounds of Kasuga Taisha, it is dedicated to Ōkuninushi, the deity of marriage, love, and relationships, along with his wife, Suserihime. The shrine’s name, meaning “Husband and Wife Daikoku Shrine,” symbolizes the harmonious bond between married couples and serves as a spiritual destination for those seeking blessings for love, marital harmony, and family unity.

The shrine is known for its intimate and serene atmosphere, making it a popular spot for couples, newlyweds, and those praying for romantic fulfillment. Visitors often leave ema (wooden prayer plaques) inscribed with wishes for successful relationships or enduring marital happiness. The shrine’s heart-shaped motifs and decorations enhance its romantic appeal, creating a unique contrast with the ancient and solemn ambiance of Kasuga Taisha.

One of the shrine’s highlights is its connection to Japanese mythology. Ōkuninushi and Suserihime represent an ideal partnership, offering guidance and blessings to those seeking love and stability in their relationships.

Meoto Daikokusha also hosts ceremonies for couples, such as wedding rituals, further emphasizing its role in promoting unity and love. Visitors can take a moment to reflect on their personal relationships while experiencing the beauty and spirituality of this historic site. With its deep cultural significance and serene charm, Meoto Daikokusha remains a treasured destination for those pursuing heartfelt prayers and divine...

Cute little shrine and place to walk around. We are not married but the place is charming and worth the additional steps to access it. I'll share some pics around it if you are not sure you are near yet.
