You have always seen those fresh fish markets that Japan has been famous for, and they really do not disappoint at all.

Take a short walk around the entire container focused on seafoods and you can see a huge variety of treasures of the sea at a very decent and local price; if you are a tourist, you are going to be stuck here for a long time having a tough time choosing what to NOT buy!

Take for example their box of super fresh and quality nigiri, even with the maguro a set of 8 different sushi is only probably a fraction of the price back home. I had it in the cold rain of January and it felt like I was eating the sushi while at sea eating the catch right out from the ocean.

I am quite sure if you have a taste you'll do a happy dance like me as well (don't make me look stupid alone...

Must visit for any food lover in Niigata, requires basic Japanese language skills but they are very excited for foreign visitors, esp those willing to try their Japanese language skills and expand their cuisine experiences. If you go on the weekend you can see all of the stands open. Grilled fresh oysters are a delicious choice, and they offer other amazing fresh grilled seafood then too. As a foodie in Niigata it is a place I've been to many times and am never disappointed in the selection. The fresh veggie and meats side is equally great and affordable. The liquor store in the same complex has a huge selection of locally produced beverages. Get some lunch, anytime really, weekdays you can just grab a quick bite from the seafood bento boxes. What a great little find in Niigata. Featuring fresh seafood and cooked delights, this is an excellent stop for the foodie in you! There are numerous shops and restaurants available with everything from alcohol to desserts and everything in between.

There is even a reservation bbq area where you'll be able to cook any produce you get at the shops.

Im pleased that we found this spot to enjoy on our afternoon in Niigata! We hope to see...
