Nakao-no-yu — Attraction in Nozawaonsen

Free local hot spring housed in a traditional wooden building. Even though the water was too hot for anyone but the locals, it was worth it just to see the architecture with its high ceiling from the inside.

This hot spring has a drain and cool water faucets around the main tub, so you can bring your soap and shampoo and wash yourself off before you get in. MAKE SURE to do this off to the side so that you don't get splash any soap into the tub.

Some other rules to remember, take your boots off when you enter, don't go in with your towel, don't put your hair in the bath, don't sit on the wooden edge of the bath and make sure to wash yourself off well...

It's my first experience at an onsen. So I had the best experience at Nakao onsen. Water temperature was really hot but it's best to bath at the end of the day to feel refreshed. It's free!!!!
