This place was a real home from home! Kain and Liz have created an incredibly welcoming hotel that's the perfect rest stop for skiers and boarders. Right next to a lift (which as we were the first arrivals of the resort season was closed) but even when that wasnt running Kain ran us daily to the lift base 500m away. We also got daily updates on which lifts were open etc. couldn't have been more helpful!
The local onsen is yards from the hotel and full onsen kit provided (along with advice for first timers).
They have a communal kitchen where u can cook or have a complimentary tea and it's right next to a delicious swiss bakery for brekkie! We also got several very good recos from Kain for food - all turned out to be fantastic!
The building is beautifully restored and preserved 60s building that has new bits in all the right places and has preserved the classic elements in all the right places too! Super clean, calm rooms.
Also a very effective drying room for kit and 10% discount with local ski hire. There's a lovely lounge with cards, games and large TV pre-loaded with Netflix too.
Next door is a great okonomitaki and gyoza place too.
Really lovely base for the week! Thanks...

There are food options aplenty a short walk away in town, however an excellent okonomiyaki restaurant next door (suggest booking though)and a handy van across the road selling very tasty crispy chicken burgers and karaage. Food shops for self-catering are within easy reach.
Ski gear is easy to manage, with plenty of space for preparing and a drying room. With a well equipped hire shop two doors away, and a short walk to the Karasawa chairlift, the ski experience was seamless.
However the thing which really makes this place stand out is the dedication, thoughtfulness and efforts of the owner Kain, who is full of helpful advice and practical assistance, and very keen to ensure all his guests have a great time. Together with his staff, it is this personal touch and efforts which really make this...
