We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Oriental Hotel Universal City in Osaka, and overall, it was a truly surprisingly delightful experience, especially for a family visiting Universal Studios Japan! Imagine having free snacks, delicious soft-serve ice cream, and refreshing soft drinks available throughout the entire day! It was such a treat, especially after a long day of exploring. And as if that wasn't enough, they even offered a hot dog reception in the evenings, which was a fantastic bonus and a great way to grab a quick bite. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which was included with our booking. It offered a good variety of both Japanese and Western options, and while it could get a bit busy, it was a convenient and tasty start to our days. Our favorites: hamburger sliders, corn potage, pasta, udon, and even a truffle waffle benedict. These thoughtful touches really made our stay feel special and added so much value.||Traveling as a family of four, finding suitable accommodation can sometimes be a challenge, but the Oriental Hotel truly delivered. The rooms look recently refurbished or remodeled, and our room was perfectly set up with four single beds, ensuring everyone had their own space! We also really appreciated the modern convenience of charging ports right at the headboard for each bed, making it super easy to keep all our devices powered up. Beyond that, the room also came with a mini-fridge, electric kettle, and free toiletries, and we were particularly impressed by thoughtful additions like a shoes dryer, air purifier, and even an Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) machine for tired feet!|||While the room itself was a bit on the smaller side and being on a lower floor meant we didn't have much of a view, the convenience of the location more than made up for it. Having a Lawson's convenience store right next door was incredibly handy for grabbing essentials, and the walk to the Universal Studios Japan gates was surprisingly short. It was only a few extra minutes beyond the hotels directly at the front gate, and the more reasonable pricing made it an excellent value choice. While we didn't use it, the hotel's proximity to the JR Universal City Station makes it easy to explore other parts of Osaka.||Now, it's worth noting that the customer service approach is quite self-service. There's no traditional luggage hold; you utilize a luggage room with chained locks, and there aren't any bellhops, so be prepared to manage your bags to and from your room. Also, while Uber can drop you off at the hotel, they don't pick up from there, so we relied on taxis for our departures, which sometimes took "scenic routes" to our destinations increasing the fare quite a bit.||Despite these minor points, the overwhelming positives, especially the fantastic complimentary offerings, the ideal setup for families, and the convenient location, truly made our stay at the Oriental Hotel Universal City a memorable one. If you're looking for a comfortable, value-packed stay with amazing perks near Universal Studios Japan, we highly...
Read moreService is bad. Do not expect the service to be that of the usual Japanese hospitality. Otherwise, consider staying for pure utility purposes. We checked in at around 4:00pm on 16th September and were standing at the reception, waiting for the staff to finish their conversation before we thought it was appropriate to check-in . We were not greeted, and we were served by a Mr S at the reception. He was rude, examined our European passports like an immigration officer because our Asian appearance did not seem to "match" our nationality, we were eventually just handed an Ipad to choose options ourselves because his English was poor and did not try to communicate. His attempt at service was below par, and showed lack of respect and courtesy. In fact, we were actually able to converse in basic Japanese, but because he did not attempt to talk at all, we did not assist. Definitely not the kind of service one would expect anywhere, especially in Japan, and especially where family and couples come here for fun and joy! You would definitely feel a big change and drop in service; this was the last hotel on our trip having stayed at various places in Japan. There are many other customer's comments on this website that said that service at the hotel was bad, and they were in fact true. Despite the hotel's responses of improving their training there clearly were still room for improvement. Given that the hotel was just within a few minutes of the park entrance, consider staying at the hotel for pure utility purposes and nothing more. Staff clearly thought the same and didn't bother to make guests feel at home as most guests are probably here to spend majority of their time at the theme park. I would not stay here again as there are many other options around the area, and I could easily choose another hotel to try, booking just 2 days in advance of my trip.Room facilities were slightly old, but reasonable. They compensated this by providing extra toiletries such as make up remover etc. Washroom and bedroom was generally decent. Vending machine, microwave and ice are available on each floor at the end of the corridor. A family-type...
Read moreI stay here in september of this year for my first 5 days in japan. We were going to universal and exploring osaka. Even though it a universal onsite hotel it is in a prime location. The hotel is attached to universal city walk; which alone is huge with tons of restaurants. The hotel is within a 5 min walk to the theme park, and to the universal city traint station that will take you where you need to go when you are exploring. The front desk staff was very welcoming and plesant. The rooms are very nice. There is a mini fridge, and the there were vending machines and a microwave at the end of our floor near tghe elevators. The hotel is quiet considering where it is located. They breakfast was so delicious. Such a variety and everything was fresh and always stayed replenished. The breakfast isn't free, we included it with the room when we booked our room but it's totally worth it. I still think about the breakfast and miss it haha. Since it is attached to citywalk there is acess to lots of food options. There are 3 lawsons convience stores in city walk alone. Food would not be a concern staying here. I would definitely reccommend staying here. I am returning next year for my honeymoon in oct/nov and we are defintely planning on...
