蔵前の住宅街にひっそりと佇む神社で、祭事でもない限り、休日でも参拝する人は少ないです。境内も広くなく、全体を周遊するのに30分もかかりません。一方で、古典落語や相撲に縁深い神社ということもあり、浅草で人力車を手配して周遊する観光スポットの一つにもなっています(境内には古典落語の一つ『元犬』の像があります)。 この神社の名物は2つあり、一つは鳥居の脇に植えられている寒緋桜です。まだ寒風吹きすさぶ季節でも鮮やかに咲き誇り、訪れる者を楽しませてくれます。もう一つはこの神社で飼育されていると思われる猫です。手水舎に小さな寝台が設けられており、そこで昼寝をしている姿をよく見かけます。寝ている時はあまり触れず、そっと見守るだけにしておきましょう。
The shrine is tucked away in a residential area of Kuramae, and unless there is a festival, few people visit the shrine even on holidays. The precincts are not large, and it takes less than 30 minutes to tour the entire shrine. On the other hand, the shrine is also one of the sightseeing spots in Asakusa where you can arrange for a rickshaw to take you around (there is a statue of "Motoinu", one of the classic rakugo stories, in the shrine grounds), as it's closely associated with Classic Rakugo and Sumo. The shrine is famous for two things: one is the scarlet cherry blossoms planted beside the Torii gate, which blooms brightly even in the cold windy season, delighting visitors. The other is a cat that seems to be kept at the shrine. There is a small sleeping area in Chozuya, where the cats are often seen taking a nap.
