I used to really like this station, but turns out they have very unnecessarily adamant train staff. My foreigner friend forgot her phone at the station bathroom, went back inside to check & realized it was gone, went to the train staff to ask (trying her best to explain the situation in Japanese) if it’s at the lost and found & wasn’t able to retrieve it. All because she didn’t have her passport with her, and very adamantly made no exceptions whatsoever, because it’s “against the law”. They didn’t accept face ID, photos of the passport, videos of the passport, nothing. Why do they need the physical passport to prove that you’re the owner of your phone, when they can’t even open her phone to check if the information matches, without her face ID and her unlocking it? From my other friends’ experience, they were able to retrieve it by just stating their home-screen. It seems to us, that their actions were mostly driven by unnecessary determination & borderline racism, rather than...
Read moreMy friend left her phone at the station bathroom and the station staff refused to give it back unless she showed them her physical ID. We had photos and videos taken real time of her passport and ID cards. What baffles me the most is the station staff has no way of verifying wether or not the person showing them ID is even the owner of the phone, but at the same time they refused to verify it without the presence of a passport or physical ID. Throughout the entire interaction, it felt as though the treatment we received was disproportionately harsh and unreasonably strict, seemingly influenced by the fact that we were foreigners rather than by any...
