Beware of the castle - not worth wasting your money!! The island and the area surround the castle are very pretty and great for a walk but please please please don’t waste your money and spend €7 in going into the castle. It’s one of the worst tourist attractions I’ve ever been to. There’s virtually nothing inside and you would think that, considering the fact it’s purely a tourist attraction and there were no locals there, they would clearly explain in English and also other local languages what the history of the castle was and give you an outline to promote Lithuanian history. Nothing, absolutely nothing except a number of poorly displayed exhibits that gave little to no information on what we were looking at. It also surprised me how little was actually inside and how so little was translated to English. Now, I’m a well travelled chap and don’t expect every country to cater to my language needs - quite the opposite in fact however there was virtually nothing in Polish either which is spoken as well.
