Bridge to Island Castle — Local services in Trakai

We went to Vilnius in November of 2023. It is a very beautiful city. We saw many old buildings and churches andearned it's great history. We also went to Trakai region. It is not far from Vilnius. There is a big lake there called Galvė (among few others). In the middle of this lake, there is a small island. On the island, there is a castle. It is called Trakai Island Castle (in Lithuanian: Trakų salos pilis; in Polish: Zamek w Trokach). It is old and truly gorgeously pretty. It was built in the 14-15th centuries by a Lithuanian ruler named Kęstutis. His son Vytautas finished it in 1409. He was a great leader. He fought many wars and made Lithuania bigger and stronger. The castle has many rooms and towers. There is a museum inside the castle. It has many things from the past. I saw swords, armor, coins, paintings, and more. I learned a lot about the history of Lithuania and its people. To go to the castle, we walked on a long and cute wooden bridge. It was fun and exciting. Interesting fact is that Trakai Island Castle actually claims to be Eastern Europe‘s only island castle still standing. This place It was one of the best things you can see and explore...

Really bad idea to defend the castle. Invaders can walk right in. Bridge can't be retracted and is probably difficult to burn down. Luckily there are 200 Karaim warriors stationed on the small island side, so the castle itself is still hard to take.
