QM is one of the amazing shopping malls in Penang. I've had many good memories with family at Queensbay, but yesterday, the management disappointed me.

As Penangites know, there is a temporary water cut from 10-14 January, which we were all informed well ahead of time. While I fully understand closing off the toilets, I do not understand why the surau was closed off when it is just a space for praying. With the knowledge that there would be no water, I had bought my own bottle of water with the plan to use it for ablution. I was not alone in my disappointment, there were other groups of women who went up the lift to the surau with me. I had to rush home so to not miss the prayer, which was a shame as I had some more errands to run, but time was cut short.

My suggestion for the Queensbay management, who can still right their wrongs over the water cut, is to either:

1. keep the surau space open, and black and yellow tape the ablution pipes to prevent people from using them (if there was still running water in the building), or
2. if need to close the surau regardless, make more obvious e.g. by putting signs up in the lifts - at least in this way, more people are informed and we can better plan our time at the mall.
