The restaurant was packed. But service and food was very borderline mediocre to meh.

Albeit we didn’t order their main dishes, which based on the other tables it seemed that the common dishes that was ordered was their western style cheese baked rice & pastas as well as their nasi goreng.

We went there for tea time, so we only ordered the nyonya appetisers like otak-otak, cucur udang, lobak, pai tee & friend prawn along with our drinks.

Safe to say, it was way below expectations, at least for the nyonya appetisers. Otak-otak was lacking taste and seemed like it was heated up (because it didn’t come hot). Cucur udang was very oily, also severely lacking taste although they did give quite a bit of prawns. Lobak filling fell off the skin so easily, also lacking taste and looked like it was heated up as well. Pai Tee came with the chili already on top of it, but the shell cracker was soft and kinda soggy like the pai tee had been sitting at their counter for a good 30mins. The bowl it came in was warm, but pai tees were cold. Have definitely tasted much better, even from nyonya colours tbh.

It took us about 40+mins to get our appetisers, and their service was not on point one bit. Gave me the old town white coffee kind of vibe, fast & mass produced “nyonya” food. But this was just our experience from the appetisers, the main dishes might have been better for sure.

Didn’t take much pictures because appetisers came out one by one in 5mins gaps after...

I went to the little nyonya Queensbay Mall,Penang outlet on Sunday ,August 28,2022 around 5.30pm.

I’m Pan Asian lady (European mix Malay Nyonya) I ordered Nyonya fried rice and hot water. I waited about 1hour my food still not been serve on the table.

I asked the staff,he said wait then I asked him why i suppose to wait anymore ,they already wasted my time!

At the beginning ,cashier ,chinese male who took my order said no need to pay included my hot water then in sudden female chinese staff, fat body said “can wait about 2 min the food ll be done”

I thought really in 2minutes but still have not come and wasted my time again.I stand at the cashier counter about 15minutes but nothing I get!

So I decided to cancel my order and take back my money.Thats better way and I pity myself to wasted my time without get what i deserve !

This is too much and they should not treat me like the way. I have money and i pay for my food so i dont deserved such a bad service like that.

I think in 2 situation: 1)the guy who took my order might be not key in my food OR 2)the kitchen staff dont do the job properly

When i asked only they rush to check but can see they are not honest and no one there say Sorry for this matter, such a rude and they got no manners.

They should learn more how to treat customer equally and dont they think Im european they treat me badly!

Ordered a stingray curry with 2 rice, super disappointing. Ladies fingers are old & hard, even 1 was uncooked. Stingray was hard to get off the bone & chopped up like it went thru fruit ninja, any random economy rice hawker stall can do better than this. Rice was sticky & kinda lumpy, the only saving grace is that its hot. So called Hong Kong milk tea is actually just instant teh tarik. Finishing the meal is actually giving them a lot of face. Service wise, don't know why we even have to pay the service tax? We asked if we could cancel our order (this was right after we submitted the order to the waiter btw), waiter's response is 'but the order already key in!', with a super disappointed face like we owe him money. Ok fine, we didn't cancel to save him some minor work. The call bell to summon service staff feels more like a sound test device, you can press all you like & no one will come. Overall, the crowd during meal times is a scam, I seriously don't know why people would go, I myself would...

Just had my worst experience here at QB branch. I am a fan of Nyonya Food, so I always bring family and friends to the Gurney Plaza's branch, but it so happened that today we decided to try out Queesbay outlet due to traffic congestion in town. So unfortunately, it happened, we dropped off our order at approx. 7pm, but the foods were served around 7:45pm after we highlighted it to one of the staff. Then, another staff came and picked up our order and rushed towards the kitchen. We asked their staffs for the status, but the majority of staffs did not dare to explain it to us but kept avoiding talking to us until one staff came to us and asked us to wait with bad-tempered voices. We just want to clarify the issue, we are not prepared to buzz for any discount or unreasonable questions.. but yet this is what I experienced today. Until we left the restaurant, no one was there to apologise and own up to the mistakes they had made. Sorry to say, what a rude experience I had today!
