The Great Mural of Muar — Attraction in Johor

UNIQUE FEATURES OF MUAR.. When I first saw this giant portrait of these two loving sisters, 7-year-old Nur Najwa Alisyah and 3-year-old Nur Najiyah Armani Abdul Rashid from Bakri, Muar, on the side wall of a big building, I thought it was really an amazing feat. It was painted by Russian mural artist, Julia Volchkova in July, 2016. Measuring nearly 12 meters tall by 10 meters wide, the artwork was then inscribed in the Malaysia Book of Record as the biggest potrait mural in the country. A lesson learnt here, with smart thinking and visualization, we can achieve great things. And the end result had transformed Bandar Maharani from an ordinary town to an open art gallery. At the same time, people learn to appreciate the artistic endeavours of others via a mural. Anyway, now, roughly eight years later, the artwork is starting to deteriorate. It begins to show signs of ageing with the paint peeling off. It looks like refreshing the mural by repainting it by the original artist herself is necessary after wear and tear occuring over time.
