Friends Hair Studio | Best Hair Salon In Sunway Velocity & Cheras — Attraction in Kuala Lumpur

This is my first visit to the salon and also my first hair extension. I've did a search on users' reviews and recommendation and decided on Friends Hair Studio in Sunway Velocity.

Their service and attention to details is top notch. Thumbs up to Yan, Kim, Henry and Xiao Ling for their top quality work.

The consultant, Yen, has taken time to check-in on my preference and doubts on hair extension, before recommending the suitable hair extension - feather vs Crystal, allowing me to feel the texture and how they look on me, their pros & cons.

I've decided on feather extension. The extension is meticulous with 3 stylists working on my hair and took almost 3 hours. During the time, they have also taken their time to advice the right way of washing, styling and daily care. It's not excessive, just more work for me as I've kept my hair short for many years. I guess if you have long hair, there's not much difference.

The experience has been relaxing as there is no pushing on getting any merchandise and no hard selling. And the chair at the shampoo area are massage chairs - having back massage while shampooing and doing scalp treatment!!

They must be highly specialised in hair extension - there are at least another 3-4 other customers also doing extension. If you are thinking of getting hair extension, I highly recommend that you consult Friends...

I’ve been a returning customer to this salon for a few years now, but unfortunately, my recent experiences have left me quite disappointed.

First, the head massage didn’t meet my expectations—it felt rushed and not as relaxing as it should be. Water splashing on my face all the time. The hair cutting skills (small guy) also seemed a bit lacking and could definitely use some improvement.

Another thing that bothered me was being asked to leave a Google review during the treatment. It felt premature and honestly a bit awkward, especially when a photo was taken right after the request—it came across as slightly pressuring.

There’s also a lack of transparency with the package I signed up and paid for. Every time I visit, it feels like there are inconsistencies or changes to what’s included, which is quite frustrating.

On top of that, one of the staff members (short hair girl with blazer) unfortunately comes off a bit like a “Karen” keeps making “tsk” or “shhh” sounds whenever other staffs are talking or laughing. It really creates an uncomfortable environment for both workers and customers.

Stylist struggled with the scissors and comb. Felt like a student cut. First time getting water stuffed in my ear during hairwash. Conditioner too much on scalp that it left my hair flat. Seats too close the workers knocked into each other. I felt sorry for my stylist. I can see she was trying. Nice girl. Salon great for hair extension but not a cut. I still managed to get a basic trim. But I wish they'd at least let me check my back. Felt rushed like one of the quick cut barbers. Worst part was asked to fill google with 5* on the spot. I had to decline. I like to wash and see how my hair looks the next day before I review. Poor hair ends look uneven and jagged. Feels like raggedy...
