The beach is relatively calm and soothing. You can easily stroll around the beach for hours. However it is less happening and bustling compared to my last visit. Perhaps it’s due to Ramadan month currently hence no local performances around in the evening at the long beach. Some eateries are not operating as well.
The boat master recommends us to visit coral bay instead as more performances and activities are running and being organised there which is about 20 minutes walk from the jetty. Perhaps we could venture there one evening.
Plenty of scuba diving and snorkelling options available so do give them a visit and make sure you’ve deal a fair price before signing up as the pricing differs a lot in between them. Keep a watch out for those who charges additional fee for equipment rental as we nearly fall into that. I mean come on. We are taking a package for snorkelling and diving and how is that possibly not wanting the equipments along and requiring additional payment. Make sure to ask about what’s included and what is not.
You can easily sign up for one around the island generally or the day before and do take note of their departure times. Snorkelling day trip around RM70 (4hours) generally excluding lunch and basic diving for first timer ranges around RM190-250 (3.5 hours)
A return Ferry transfers trip to the Perhentian Kecil from Besut ferry terminal costs RM35.
And do bring cash as not many accept cards or local digital wallets.
Have fun and enjoy the serenity at the beach! Will definitely be back to this...

Long Beach on Perhentian Kecil was once the most beautiful place I had ever seen. The sea sparkled with life, the stars lit up the night sky, and fire performers from around the world brought magic to the beach. It felt untouched, alive, and free—a true escape.
Now, it's heartbreaking to return. The sea, once so clear and full of wonder, is clouded with algae. The beach is no longer a place to sit, sunbathe, or simply breathe—it's been overtaken by tightly packed restaurants. Where silence and starlight once filled the nights, harsh electric lights now drown out the skies.
The stars are gone. Even the corals are dead. Plastic waste litters the shore. It feels like watching a loved one fade away. This beach was a treasure, and now it feels like a junkyard.
I don’t write this out of anger, but sadness. I just hope something changes—before the last bit of its...
Read moreA beautiful beach but a bit difficult to reach. There are two ways to reach here from KL. By plane Take a flight to Kota bharu and then a taxi to jetty of Kuala besut. There are various agents in Kuala besut who can book a boat (ferry / speed boat) to perhentian.
By bus. Take a bus from TBS in KL. TBS is next to KTM line so there is no issue reaching there. Then the bus will take 8-9 hrs to reach Kuala besut. Night coaches are much better as one can reach early morning and can take a boat of 7:30 / 8:00 am.
The return ticket of boat is purchased and boats return from perhentian at 8 am, 12 noon and 4 pm.
There are two main islands. 1 is small island and the other one is big island. Long beach is situated on...
