We booked this hotel using trip.com after seeing nice pictures of them room. However after booking all the issue with this hotel started.
Summary of trip: We book this hotel because we wanted to scuba dive with Panorama Dive Center. We wanted a good hotel near the center and according to the ad in Trip.com this was very near.
Experience chronologically: After booking and confirmation, no refund allowed according to the booking, we wanted the hotel to provide a room closer to the beach and assistance to help with our luggage with contains our full diving equipment (BCD, regulators, fins and everything including our clothes etc) and luggage which was quite a lot for three person. The email provided in trip.com keeps getting rejected because it says not deliverable. The phone number provided is never answered despite calling many many times during office hours one month before the trip to the day of the trip when we are about to arrive on the island. No assistance or anyone waiting for us at the jetty even though they know we are arriving. We had to carry and lug all our luggage using a mini trolley that I brought (just in case). The cement walkway only extend from the jetty to in front of Mimpi hotel and after that it is all beach and sand. While we were lugging our luggage along on a hot day, it was lucky that a porter (Munir) approached us to assist. We agreed on a price and he helped us to carry all the large and heavy diving luggage with equipment. The hotel is situated at the end of LONG beach nears the BUBU hotel and restaurant. You turn left just before and the you have to go up an uneven and steep uphill trail for around 600 meters to the hotel. If the porter was not there, it would have meant several trips of carrying our equipment up to the hotel and being totally exhausted when we get to the room. When we reach the hotel, I complaint about their phone number not being answered and also the difficulty getting to the hotel. It was brushed off with the phone number belongs to our sales office and they don’t know why as they should be working. A small 300ml water was given to each of us as the welcome drink. 50RM room deposit was collected and we were shown to the room. The room is comfortable and the air condition is working well. When taking shower we found out that the hot water is not coming from a unit inside the bathroom but from piping externally which means we cannot control the heat. It was cold showers until the 3rd person taking the shower, he had some warm water. They provide soap that’s it, luckily we brought our own soap and shampoo. No other bathroom amenities are provided. After shower and resting, we went out in the late afternoon to check into our dive center to deliver our diving equipment. We then had our dinner and came back in the evening after sun set. To our surprise, the road leading to our hotel has a stage about 200 meter where there is totally no light. With the unevenness of the ground, steep hill and placed between large trees and bushes, it was quite a difficult journey to climb to the hotel. The lighting is only provided up to 100 meter from the hotel. During our first night, there was foreigner (Pakistani or Bangladeshi) speaking loud on his phone until early morning. We can hear him clearly so we find out that the noise pollution in the room is an issue. The place we stay is semi detached with rooms directly behind our unit sharing the same building. The hotel boasts of good air conditioning and internet. The air conditioning is as per advertised but the internet is Non existent in the room. It is only 1 bar and cannot be connected. I went out to check but the reception is closed after 7 pm and found that internet only available in common area near reception which is closed. Phone signal 1 bar. When it was raining heavy we requested for umbrella to go for dinner as hotel have no kitchen and was told that umbrella is only for their staff. Nightly people walking around the room or staying nearby can be heard talking loudly until 3am in...
Read moreOur experience was quite disappointing. The room had no air conditioning, only a fan, which made it almost unbearable to stay inside because it was so hot and humid. A positive point was that there were mosquito nets, but the windows couldn’t be properly closed. This meant it was very noisy early in the morning when people passed by.
Another issue was the check-in time. On the booking platform, it clearly said check-in was possible from 2 PM, but at the hotel we were told it’s only from 3 PM. When we mentioned what the booking site said, the staff just replied that it doesn’t apply and we have to follow their own rules, which didn’t make sense to us.
There was also no Wi-Fi in the room, and due to a network outage, there was no mobile reception either—so essentially no internet at all. Because there was no air conditioning, the room stayed extremely humid. Nothing dried properly, so after just one day the towels already smelled bad, and they weren’t replaced.
On top of that, the bed linens were stained, the duvets were too small, and the windows couldn’t be fully darkened. Overall, the stay was very uncomfortable and not what we expected.
That being said, when looking at some of the other accommodations we passed by, such as the tent areas, this place still seems decent in comparison. You can definitely sleep there while staying on the Perhentian Islands. However, whether the price matches the value you get—I highly doubt it. In fact, it feels like a complete rip-off: online you pay a very high rate for the room, but when you’re actually there you realize that it goes for around 50 Ringgit per night (what is 1/5 of the price we...
Read moreIf I was given a choice, I wouldn't even rate a star for this hotel. Let me begin with the location, although it's just near the beach, I wouldn't suggest it because you will have to hike up a bit to reach it so if you have elderly people with you, this hotel is a BIG NO.
Secondly, this hotel has too many mosquitoes and big lizards. Really big ones. The rooms are small, water no pressure, no AC and the room had a bad odour and that's not even the worst part.
So I booked this hotel for two nights but due to some unforeseen circumstances, my family and I couldn't check in the first night ( no calls from the hotel to check). So the second night, after some beach activities, we reached the hotel at 7.20 pm. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were not welcoming at all. We requested to leave before midnight on the second night although we have time till next day 12 pm BUT we were told to leave in 10mins time because this is what the manager Mr Daniel said, I quote ''Our counter is open till 7.30 pm only, we can't be waiting for you to check out''
The whole time he was so rude to my whole family, and no consideration was given at all.
I know it's their SOP but they could have told us in a better manner and not be rude to your customers because it's not fair that we paid for 2 nights and we are requested to leave in 10 minutes plus the room condition especially the toilet was filthy.
The manager even dared to speak sarcastically and never apologized for poor hospitality. This is the worst experience I had with a hotel and I'm never coming back. I wouldn't...
