I always check out reviews before visiting a restaurant or cafe. I do not normally post reviews but I just thought of sharing my experience to help improving the store and give a more authentic reviews on this page.
Parking has always been an issue at Taipan, and MPSJ is very strict when it comes to double parking in the day, so keep that in mind, it might take you some time to look for a parking.
Unfortunately, I did not feel the comfortable ambience mentioned by many people in the reviews. At first, I thought the air conditioner was not turned on, but only to realise perhaps it is faulty. Before I write this, I noticed another customer pointed this out too, but the store owner's response was to ask where did he sit. Where customers sit should not be an excuse for you as an owner, but in fact owning up your shortcoming will be a better response next time.
Next, workers are friendly, I asked if there is any promo, they were able to mention a few to me. As I am about to make payment using my Maxis promo, apparently the computer is lagging after I have scanned my QR code. It seemed like this is nothing new for the worker, it took nearly a minute until I can finish my payment. I hope you guys can update your computer system so you do not have to waste your customer's time and your worker's time.
I tried one of their bestsellers - valrhona chocolate, suggested by the friendly worker. Fortunately, it was good, because right now they do not provide taster. So I suggest if you do not want to take the risk, just wait until they start providing taster as how other ice cream shops do. The verdict, would I come back again? Maybe not on my own will. They advertised their sorbet ice creams on social media that "it's creamy until can't tell it's a sorbet" which is a completely FALSE advertisement. They don't provide testers right now due to the pandemic, which is understandable, so had to completely trust that "advertisement" of theirs on Instagram. I ordered the Crunchy Choc Sorbet, which is NOT crunchy at all and have NO taste at all. Stopped eating after the first taste, wasted my money on a PREMIUM ice cream.
To make the situation even worse, parking was terrible and I went to the store in the afternoon, it was so hot outside, can you believe that the interior of an ICE CREAM shop is hot also? Let me give you an inside scoop, you can find that in the Inside Scoop! If you only care about making money with your false advertisement and not upgrading your store AND not putting your customer as your priority, at least think about your staffs that are SWEATING making money for you every day (even worse that they have to wear mask now).
Really disappointed with my visit, never know what's the hype about all these "premium" cafes. At least my sundae chocolate that come from my Nasi Lemak McD set satisfies my craving...
Read moreOrdered take-away of 2 pints and then paid. Was asked to sit for a while. I was like, okay. Then the cashier proceeded to serve 3 other customer (tester, scooping, billing), and then only decided to head over to the freezer right next to the counter to take out my 2 pints of ice-cream (Durian & Valrhona which are heavenly), and then put into a bag and passed to me. I’m like, why did I need to wait to be served my order, after 3 customers behind me was served? Mind you, there were more customers behind as well. What’s the point of making me sit 10 mins for the pint of ice cream in the freezer, which he could have just went over, reached in, take out and put in the bag and pass to me, which took him like 20-30 seconds tops. He made me wait about 10 mins (3 cust, avg 3-4 mins each customer). Sorry for the rant. Was exceptionally upset. :(
Update: Had contacted customer service as requested. The team concurred the services wasn't supposed to be how I experienced it, and the team will ensure the services training will be done sufficiently to ensure the teams does not repeat this unpleasant experience in the future.
