La Cuvette Public Beach — Attraction in Rivière du Rempart District

This a a great beach to visit, it’s closed off to through traffic, so it’s quiet and rustig, (relaxed in Afrikaans).

A perfect place to picnic, or you can get food and drinks from the vendors there. There is some parking available, about 30 to 40 spaces. But over the weekend, especially on Sunday it can fill up very quickly.

If you are staying in Grand Bay, rather take a walk. There are enough pavements (sidewalks) to get you there.

This is a small beach in grand bay. Nice for a full day for families as is easy to control kids in this area. Water is perfect and shaded area close to water for picnics. Also vendors sell everything from water to coffee and harder stuff as well. Parking is also well located. Close to grand bay casino. Note: some tides are stronger with tip current for small kids just check currents yourself to make sure it's safe to leave them alone.

There are small fish and live rocks if you want to snorkel but...

Tra le spiagge più belle dell' isola. Sabbia bianca e finissima. Servizi igienici puliti e perfino gratuiti. Numerosi posti auto disponibili gratuitamente nei pressi della spiaggetta, io ci sono andata di domenica e sono riuscita a parcheggiare. Ci sono numerosi chioschetti per mangiare , io consiglio il chioschetto italiano perché i panini sono buonissimi e i titolari davvero simpatici. Unica nota negativa: il servizio che fornisce lettini e ombrelloni. Vengono a proporci il noleggio dei lettini quando eravamo già sistemati con gli asciugamani. Un signore anziano ci offre i lettini per 600 rupie, ma essendo già le 13 e fornendo il servizio fino alle 16.30 , negoziamo per 500 rupie e paghiamo. Alle 16 arriva il titolare e comincia ad alzare la voce dicendo che avremmo dovuto pagare la differenza, perché sosteneva che il prezzo sarebbe stato 1000 rupie. Gli spieghiamo che ci eravamo accordati così con il suo collega e lui a quel punto dice che avrebbe fatto pagare a lui la differenza, che gli avrebbe tolto 500 rupie dal suo stipendio già misero dato che aveva sbagliato. A quel punto ci siamo alzati e ce ne siamo andati disgustati da un comportamento volto solo a fregare i turisti. 1000 rupie (22 euro) per due lettini per 3 ore mi sembra un prezzo senza senso, soprattutto in un paese dove lo stipendio medio è di 400 euro. Quindi l'idea è che il turista vada derubato. Anche a detta della gente locale, il titolare dei lettini...
