Please stay away from this place if you don't want the personal to demand the tip at the end of the night!! We had a great night, dancing and drinking along ...when it was time to leave, we where told by our waiter like 3 times "tip is not included", "tip is not included", a reminder "tip is not included" it got a bit annoying... So when we where finally putting down our tip in the table he stood right on the side staring at us and remove the napkin dispenser so he could see better and kept staring to see how much would we leave, we finished and when he saw the amount grab it and turned back to us saying this is an insult... "you can keep it for the bus". Concerned we ask him how much you want? We gave him some extra and he refused to take it again, until he told us his desire amount... We are here on vacation at the Riu Cancun Resort. We decided to have something different and visited Almadia for a late lunch. I don’t write reviews, but BUYER BEWARE. The Restraurant is beautiful with ocean views and indoor/outdoor seating. Services was excellent and the food was ok. The problem is how they do the bill. They add an additional $40 American dollars to your bill if you are not paying with pesos. When I showed the young man that in Pesos it cost this much and should cost this much in American $$$ he said the conversion was incorrect. Weird because we almost had the same bill last night at diner and the cost was about less. Needless to say they didn’t get a tip OR THEY CHEATED ME FOR A GREAT TIP. and I want everyone to know that the trickery is not worth it. I would NOT eat there again even if the food was amazing. Great drinks and service. Server Paloma was awesome!! As plenty of the reviews state about their self-tipping method, I noticed is actually common practice that I noticed in Cozumel Fat Tuesday as well. That taught me to check the receipt and ask questions. I did question my receipt and the "That's a tip for everyone but ME" was explained to me. In which I left a little extra for her. No customer SHOULD have to do this, but seems like it's a free-for-all on your money. We bought a $20 Yard drink with $10 refills only to find out the next day that "it JUUUST went up to $13.50 today"😶. Especially annoyed by this in particular, we will not be returning and spreading the word for people to beware of this place.
