Good music, good location, HORRIBLE customer service and food. Do not recommend for vegetarian/vegans. It started out great as we sat down with a live DJ on the cushions overlooking the beach and ordered drinks that the server recommended as the day’s special. We double checked that the day’s specials were the cocktail prices and not the “especiales”. I pardoned when the server dropped half the shot (nestled in a lime) on the table. We ordered tableside guacamole which was actually well-prepared and a fun treat. I ordered the vegan Italian kale salad specifically asking the server if there was more than just the items listed - kale, lettuce, and a lemon dressing. He assured me that more vegetables were included like avocado and bell peppers and more. When the salad came, it came with chicken pieces and a balsamic dressing. Then, when ordered again I notified the manager that I had a flight in a few hours and that I needed it to be boxed. They did a great job of packing it but when I checked the salad it only came with lettuce, green apples, cilantro, and cucumber? Essentially, rabbit food. I called the manager to tell him that my flight was in 2 hours, and that the food which I waited for twice was not up to par. He said he couldn’t do anything else and told me to pay the check and go. When I got the bill, they had charged me for “special” drink. I told the manager and he said he would verify with the server. The server lied and the manager came to ARGUE WITH ME! I was on the verge of tears as I had no proper lunch food, had a flight in a couple hours and had a time urgency after waiting 40 mins for food, had the WAITER YELLING AT ME THAT I WAS WRONG, had the MANAGER YELLING AT ME THAT I WAS WRONG, was being charged extra for things I had SPECIFICALLY confirmed (after traveling 20+ countries you learn to double-check), and had to converse and defend myself in a foreign language. I told the manager that he shouldn’t argue with me and that I was just trying to find a solution due to his waiters’ mistakes. He told me “this is not America, this is okay to talk to customers like this in Cancun”. Overall, what seemingly was a nice place turned into a horrible moment and lasting impression from me in Cancun. I will not be back here and will not recommend this place to anyone.

I've lived in Cancun for almost 2 years, but I only came here for the first time last night and I was glad that I did. I have walked past It on the beach but I didn't realise it was a restaurant before. I went on a Tuesday night so there weren't many people there but I prefer it like that as I am not a fan of busy places these days. Karla was the waitress who served me, she is very lovely and chatty, and very attentive. I ordered guacamole and the Alfredo pasta with chicken. The Guacamole was divine, the chicken was good, the pasta was too buttery for me though, if I knew it was going to have butter in the pasta I would have requested a lot less or maybe without, so if you order the pasta Alfredo I would recommend asking them to go easy on the butter. Other than that everything was great, there's a beautiful view of the ocean and the moon was almost full, the decor is very pretty and picturesque. I would definitely recommend and I will be back for sure ☺️

I dont usually write reviews, but I thought Tribu had exceptional service and wanted to make sure they were recognized. I was killing time waiting for my flight with my luggage and they had no problem holding it for me. It was just myself and I had several people come randomly and briefly to make sure I was comfortable and made nice conversation while delivering my food. It wasn’t intrusive, they seemed genuinely caring and very friendly. The clam chowder and guacamole were both delicious. The music was so good I Shazamed a couple house music songs and of course the ocean view was beautiful. It’s in a great location in the hotel zone. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back next time.

Not family friendly and exceptionally poor service.

Went to this restaurant today for lunch with my extended family and 7 month old son. The venue was pretty empty but we still had to ask at least 3 times any time we tried to order anything and the food took nearly an hour to come. To add insult to injury, the fries weren’t cooked through and the starters arrived after mains!

There are no baby changing facilities even though it’s advertised as a family restaurant. There are no means to dry your hands in the bathroom and even when you ask the staff they don’t help.

We had to ask for the bill 3 times and it still took 10 mins to come and the waiters were just standing there doing nothing and chatting to each other as we tried to console our screaming baby while we waited.

When I spoke to the manager he wasn’t helpful at all and he even started trying to tell jokes about the situation (baby still screaming in background).

I am astonishingly surprised at how poor the experience has been. For the price I expected a high quality service but you’d get better service at...

Disappointing Experience Despite the Beautiful Setting

While Tribu Cancún boasts a beautiful beachfront location and a relaxing atmosphere, the service left much to be desired—and the high prices only made the experience more frustrating.

After being seated, we waited nearly 20 minutes before a server even acknowledged us, only to hand us barcodes and walk away without offering physical menus or any explanation. That set the tone for the rest of the visit.

We ordered the guacamole, which the menu advertised as being freshly prepared tableside. After a 30-minute wait, it was finally brought to us—pre-made, not prepared at the table as promised. It looked like it came from a frozen pack, and honestly, it seemed like it was made with a single avocado. It was bland, unappetizing, and not worth the price at all.

Tribu has potential because of its setting, but the lack of attention to service and quality really ruined what could have been a lovely meal. I wouldn’t return or recommend it unless they seriously improve their customer service and deliver what they promise...
