HELL IS A PLACE ON EARTH. The biggest, most embarrassing scam i’ve ever fallen for in my entire life. This is not a hotel, nor a resort—it is a massive dump. Do not fall for the average rating you see on trip advisor and google. The negative stars are covered by paid bot reviews that bump the overall score to fool others into believing that this is a good place to stay. Spoiler! It’s NOT. The 5 days that were spent here were some of the most disappointing, most horrendous days of my life. Why? More like why not. 1. Starvation. The food was undeniably THE ABSOLUTE WORST slop i’ve ever had. The “restaurants” for in the all-inclusive plan are not restaurants, they are literally shacks. Iguanas (buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner) was so disgusting I get nauseous just remembering it. The “tai” “restaurant” that you needed a reservation for was literally ONE TABLE inside of where the sushi bar is, which was the driest sushi i’ve ever had. But the actual tai food? It was served in “courses.” First course: one baby spring roll cut in half. I thought it was a joke. Second course: bland soup. Third: some shrimp noodle cup? Literally so gross. Fourth: The most rubber-like pieces of beef served with a throw-up of a sauce. I was truly appalled. Also, i don’t know how it’s possible to mess up a burger to the point where it’s inedible, but boy, did they accomplish that too! I don’t need to say anything about the pizza, just look at the pictures. There is also a mexican “restaurant.” Again, the pictures speak for themselves. We no-joke survived purely on boxed cereal. If you have any taste buds at all, you will book somewhere else. 2. Atmosphere. The pictures you see online are NOT even close to what the place actually looks like. Like not even in the same universe. If you want a reality check, you can check out my pictures. The resort is NOT SAFE in the slightest. For starters, there are gaping holes in every walking path, holes on the tennis court, and holes by the pool. Total safety hazard. The bottom stairs to get to the beach were also broken. Another safety hazard. Outside of these accidents just waiting to happen, the beach was SO dirty (and small) and the pool looked like one from a community center. Everywhere you look, it’s clear that no one cares about upkeep or presentation. 3. ROACHES. Yeah you read that right. We found a dead roach in our bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it is very poorly designed. Water leaks out of the shower all over the floor no matter what you do. The room itself was so small and wreaked of bleach when we first got there. No balcony either, only a tiny window. Cherry on top was the power going on and off all throughout the night for our last night there, waking us up every 5 min. 4. Language barrier. Barely anyone here spoke any english. The food was all labeled in spanish. The best day of our whole trip was the one day we left this dump shack and saw chichen itza. On the bus ride back, we were crying because we didn’t wanna come back. You know it’s bad when you’re counting down the days to go home.

My recent stay at Dos Playas was profoundly disappointing, falling far short of even modest expectations. **Room Quality:** The rooms were a stark contrast to the appealing images online, featuring an outdated, depressing reddish-brown color scheme and dim yellow lighting. Cleanliness was a significant issue, highlighted by cockroaches on the first day. One on our bed and another in the bathroom. **Beach Condition:** Despite being a beachfront hotel, the beach was poorly maintained, littered with trash and algae. This was in stark contrast to the cleaner shores of nearby hotels. No effort from hotel to keep clean. **Security Concerns:** The lack of an interior lock in the room was a serious security concern. **Misleading Advertising:** The actual room bore little resemblance to the advertised pictures. The management acknowledged the discrepancy but offered no resolution. **Furniture Quality:** Even basic furniture like the desk was sticky and poorly maintained. **Value for Money:** For the price, the quality was extremely lacking. Another hotel at a similar price offered far superior accommodations. **Beach Accessibility and Amenities:** Despite its beachfront location, I cannot recommend this hotel. The beach itself had very limited seating, with only a few chairs available and at an exorbitant rental fee of 500 to 1,000 pesos a day, unlike other hotels that offer this for free with ample availability. There was also a notable lack of shade, making it difficult to enjoy the beach comfortably. In summary, Dos Playas was a letdown in nearly every aspect, from room quality to beach amenities. There are undoubtedly better options in the area, even if it means sacrificing a direct beach view(not that youll enjoy it here)

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The all-inclusive experience was truly worth it — from great food to fun activities, everything was taken care of. The location is fantastic, and while the rooms aren’t particularly pretty, they were clean and functional. The majority of the staff were friendly and helpful, which really enhanced the experience. The gym isn’t the best, but the evening programs around dinner time were a great highlight and more than made up for it. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable getaway!
