I hope my review helps you be informed about REAL HOTEL, yikes on bikes! I talked to a manager Marcos about some of these things and not one time did he apologize or offer to do anything after a 10 minute conversation They have a very odd towel policy, and are extremely concerned about towel theft, which I find perplexing and comical … they treat the pool towels like a precious commodity which you have to get from front desk with a special card even if you are dripping wet without your card NO EXCEPTIONS There is a scuba boat dock/shop right beside the hotel and often there are people in the pool and at the gazebos training that are NOT staying at hotel! Which is also confusing as the pool rules state you must be staying here to use the pool. This dock is super convenient for scuba divers but an annoyance for hotel guests 3.The water pressure is absolutely absurd too. If you enjoy a nice pressured shower with hot water this is not your place - please see video No hot water all day on Saturday Our toilet did not flush, period ugh - please see video Our phone didn’t work in our room so we couldn’t call the desk and tell them our toilet didn’t flush When the maid cleaned our room on Saturday she left no wash cloths, bath mat or hand towels only one towel for a room with 2 people in it - furthermore I’m not sure they have washcloths as we never saw them We checked to see if they would give us a new room key, they did in the evening without checking identification & there is only one doorman for safety At breakfast the server told us we only paid for one breakfast, that is not the case and be made us prove it to him and then did not apologize The pool /relaxation area overlooking the lagoon had ambience music which I found annoying it was techno/edm which I like but not for a relaxing book reading pool sit If you have mobility issues at all the floors are extremely slick if they get slightly wet at all The air conditioner intake was loud The overall hotel was just dingy looking You can’t walk ANYWHERE except the beach which is a 1.2 KM or .75 miles to the nearest public beach - the entrance to the beach is at OXXO gas station Okay that’s enough- if you like the following a. Being near the beach (it’s not a short walk) b. A good shower c. quiet sleep/room or pool sits d.Being treated with respect from hotel employees when you are dripping wet e. Small amenities and luxuries
THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU If you want no beach access, a place to lay your head, with clean sheets and the capability to walk to the scuba dock...
Read moreThis hotel isn't all that great. It was among one of the cheapest hotels I could find within a few days and I see why. The staff are nice and welcoming. They answered any question I asked. The lobby entrance and view of the lagoon is the best part. You can catch the sunset here in February. They give you 2 small bottled water in the room, which I did not expect. And that's where the positivity ends.
I didn’t pay for breakfast or order any food at their cafe so I cannot speak on it. Breakfast is 300 pesos per person. They sell Starbucks coffee. Nearest Starbucks branch is a 24 minute walk. There is a pharmacy within walking distance but not like a 2 minute walk. There are some nearby restaurants but not many.
My room on the 4th floor was facing the street, which I don't recommend if you’re a light sleeper. You hear every vehicle on high speed passing by. From the day I checked in, the room smelled musty (mildew maybe?) and remained that way throughout my stay. They use mainly cheap, MDF furniture and you can see how it's wearing off. Some of the beddings had small visible stains, which is gross to me. I would expect that from a motel.
The wifi can be slow from the room during the day and sometimes at night. You're better off staying in the lobby if you want faster wifi.
There's a small fitness center with a decent amount of equipment to workout. It faces the lagoon. Feels better when the sun is not out, hiding, or about to set since the windows aren't tinted.
The bed was decent. The pillows were ok. The bathroom shower never got hot during my stay. It was either semi-warm or on the way to being cold. The TV has mainly Spanish audio on most channels. But there are a few channels in English. No fridge or microwave in the room. Not sure why. Probably because they want you to buy food from them.
If you want to book tours, there's a concierge desk in the lobby available from 8 am-4 pm. Some tours require a day in advance booking. I want to say their prices are higher.
The nearest R1/R2 bus stop heading to Hotel Zona is a 3 minute walk. Going to downtown Cancun is right across. Both buses is 12 pesos per ride per person (or $1 USD). Runs from 5 am to 12 am. They seem to run pretty often no matter the time of the day.
The nearest public beach is a 5 minute walk and has a bunch of seaweed. The seaweed makes the beach look less attractive but people are there.
If I ever visit Cancun again, I have no desire to return...
Read moreExcellent. This hotel really exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it. It's a quiet spot far from the noise and perfect for relaxation. Location is awesome! It's easy to hop on any bus to either go further down to the hotel zone or the opposite direction to downtown. The bus stop is 2 minutes outside the hotel. There is a beach right across the street. The Super Chedraui is a 10 min bus ride. Playa Tortuga in 5 minutes. Playa Delphines 20 minutes. La Isla shopping mall-15 minutes. Staff is excellent. Front desk super kind and helpful. I was looking for a dentist and Yoset took the time to call them for me and make an appointment. The other young man Yamil was super sweet, very knowledgeable and had an impeccable English. He is the one who told me how to get to places and added extra recommendations that I really appreciated. He was also amazingly professional! The restaurant is facing the laguna , amazing view. You can order a la carte or take the buffet for $290 Mexican pesos. Good selection but I'm fussy about food so didn't eat there everyday. The pool was FANTASTIC. I believe it is more than 25M long. I did my daily lapses there. It's salt water and again the view is unforgettable! The room was super clean and comfortable. Cleaning staff did an amazing job. The AC was fantastic. Hot water would only last 5 min, then it would get lukewarm but I doubt that will bother anyone. I slept like a baby, super quiet. My room description said that my stay included a laptop safe, a safety box, an alarm clock and a radio, hangers to hang clothes.. I had none of that . A few other not so perfect things: no coffee machine in the room however Starbucks downstairs was kind enough to give me hot water so I can drink my own tea( I'm very particular about my tea). The gym has loud blasting music and 2 tv's going on at the same time. I had asked them to turn those off on my first night but they refused. I wanted to have the choice to listen to my own music. The next day however, the manager made sure the music was off for my hour workout! The gym by the way is amazing! There is even a tour operator on site so if you want to book tours to go to Isla mujheres or Chichen Itza, it can be done with pick up at the hotel. The hotel grounds are beautiful, an oasis on it's own. What more can I say?? Highly...
