La Luna Sul Mare — Restaurant in Mérida

We spend our New Year’s Eve here and spoiler alert: this was the worst decision of the day. First, the menu they offered seemed a bit pricy for Merida but worth the try. What we experienced was far from what we expected. After an admittedly tasty aperitivo we enjoyed a cold lasagne (or maybe a slice of a normal portion as first course. The salmon or chicken they optioned for main course both were.. eh.. briefly: salmon far from tender and the chicken was only worth the side salad. Looking around wondering if we were only some gringos not being able to honour Italian food her in Mexico we recognized another guest returning the food. Good job, unfortunately we did not, as we were really hungry. What followed was kinda the pit of the iceberg: a pannacotta - at least they said it was one. It looked like a better jello and tasted indefinable. This is the first time I've actually had a dessert go back. Also worth mentioning: a service that was there. Not asking if the food was good, not wondering about why we only took two bits of the dessert. But we’re they were very energetic was the tip. We refused to pay the 15 percent they just typed into the card reader arguing this would be the official tip for tonight. We even asked for the manager, who did not come up but after the waiter discussed with him he accepted the lower tip tonelessly. Should I feel bad for not tipping such an experience? He really made me! I really don’t like giving such bad reviews but being objective that is not what you expect from a New Year’s Eve dinner. Actually not any dinner you pay such an amount for. As I read other reviews of this restaurant recently I really hope for them they get back to their better days and do not only make further money from their good location. Would not go...

let’s start with the good things: really nice atmosphere. we were actually heading for another restaurant but decided to dine here after seeing it, it has a nice vibe.

as starters we had minestrone and parmigiana; both were very good. then pasta with shrimps and pasta quattro formaggi. these were not so good. especially the quattro formaggi… the pasta was seriously overcooked and the cheese sauce was quite poor. if you run an italian restaurant, the first thing you know should be cooking the pasta ‘al dente’.

but i think the real problem was the service. starters and main dishes came at the same time (it’s called starters for a reason) and they didn’t even ask what was wrong with the pasta when my gf left it...

Von vorne bis hinten: SCHLECHT.

Wir hatten zum Silvesterabend reserviert. Man sagte uns, dass wir Glück hatten und den letzten Tisch des Abends bekommen würden. Dort angekommen nahmen wir draußen Platz (das war so gewollt), allerdings waren die Stühle nass und es war auch kein Gedeck vorbereitet, wie auf so manch anderen Tischen im Restaurant (sehr komisch, dass dies nicht einheitlich war). Als Menü gab es folgendes: Prosecco, 12 Trauben (ist ein Brauch in México), ein kleines Bruschetta, eine kleine eher kalte Lasagne, wahlweise Hühnchen mit Salat oder Lachs auf Spinat und am Ende „Panna Cotta“. Mein Partner hatte den Lachs, welcher einfach hart war und mein Hühnchen schmeckte nach nichts. Der Salat war aber gut. Das Panna Cotta am Ende war die Krönung des Abends und einfach nur peinlich (siehe Foto). Zudem hatten wir sicher nicht den letzten Tisch bekommen, da der Inhaber ständig versuchte, neue Leute in sein Restaurant zu ziehen. Beim bezahlen bestand man auf 15% Trinkgeld. Als ich sagte, dass ich dies sicher nicht zahlen werde, weil 870 Pesos pro Person für diesen Reinfall schon mehr als genug waren und uns gewissermaßen den Abend versauten, musste der Kellner erst mit dem Chef reden. Dieser kam auch gar nicht mehr an unseren Tisch, was ebenso traurig war. Wir rundeten unseren Betrag sogar auf die nächste volle Zahl auf - eigentlich hätte man hierfür gar kein Trinkgeld geben dürfen. Die anderen Gäste am Abend sahen auch alles andere als glücklich aus. Ich habe sogar mitbekommen, dass eine Dame ihr Hühnchen zurückgehen lassen hat.

Zusammenfassend: Ich bin sehr enttäuscht, komme nie wieder! essen billig, sehr schlechte Qualität und allgemein viel zu kleine Portionen Inhaber sehr unsympathisch
