Sometimes you want a dinner that's not Yucatecan food, and Italian is an easy and usually reliable option. After reading a lot of reviews of Merida's Italian places we chose this one. And what a decision it turned out to be. From the friendly welcome of our waiter, Erick, to the final bite of delicious food that we barely had room for, but could not even consider leaving on our plate, this place was fantastic. We loved their version of "chips and dip" which is fingers of focaccia with small bowls of pasta sauce, herbs, chillis and parmasan cheese. Followed by our bruschetta, which was crispy and well seasoned. But when our fried pizza came to the table I was genuinely speechless. I was expecting a Calzone but what arrived was a full sized pizza base which had been folded like an empanada and filled with cheese and bolognese. This is what you order if you can't decide between lasagne, bolognese, and pizza. It's everything on a single, huge plate. One final note, I mentioned Erick earlier. When you come here, hope to get him as your waiter. Erick was fun, informative, patient with my efforts at speaking Spanish, and friendly. He made a great restaurant become a...
Read moreWe were looking for delicious pizza, read a few reviews and decided on Trattoria La Pasta Montejo, glad we did. Beautiful location on Paseo Montejo, you can sit indoors or outdoors, and enjoy the view from your seat as people pass by on Montejo. Intimate and casual, its a decent spot to chill and nourish yourself. Classic italian food, prepared very well. We had a very tasty strawberry, baby spinach salad that paired with a deliciously spiced dressing, felt like we got the local spicing in addition to the savory fruit laden dressing, wonderful. Ordered a pizza to split, one pie is enough for two, unless your really, really hungry, then get your own, you know who you are if you go this route, dont be ashamed. Pizza was amply topped with our choosing of prosciutto, formaggio and arugula with cherry tomatoes. Delish. Jessica was our sever, she was a delight, knowledgeable, and very efficient in serving us. There are plenty of cocktails to choose from, including cervezas, so choose wisely, and possibly often, if you indulge. There is also a selection of n/a drinks as well, fret not. Great place to eat, drink and be merry, as merriment is what is offered here....
Read moreNever got to even go on. There was a group waiting but nobody came for a long time. When they did they let in the group but I couldn’t get seated despite being just 1 person and it was the middle of the day on Monday. They were not busy. Nearly all tables outside were open.
Now with the reply. I was waiting outside next to the group for much time. Then he asked to wait so I waited but he took too long. I did go to another restaurant that was busy but was able to be sit immediately as I was just 2 single person but yes thank you. I recommend Pizza NEO. It’s authentic and doesn’t take forever. Just read some of the other reviews about the service. Clearly I’m not the only one. 😉
I wrote my original review 2 years ago. I’ve actually been back to Merida 3 times and lived there for over a month but wouldn’t try to go here again even if it was free. Not because it’s bad but because of the petty response. Which you can read in other...
