During our stay in Tulum, we went to the spa for 5 times. I worked at a Nordic spa for 2 years and this facility has right concept and temperatures, but could use some tweaking. Positives: The cold plunge is a legit cold plunge, which is hard to find. The teas and waters were excellent for the cycles. The staff is very friendly. Negatives: The spa was very very small. They should have made the dry sauna 5 times the size. Only 4 people can fit at a time and itās claustrophobic. If no one else is there, itās not a problem, but it gets extremely busy and you end up using your time to just wait in line to get into the sauna, which completely throws off your cycles (if you are doing the hot cold cycles). We had to rebook twice because when we went in the mornings to beat the crowds, the sauna and cold plunge werenāt even on. At 9:30am the cleaner was cleaning the windows on the inside of the dry sauna and told us to wait because it wasnāt on yet. Even the cold plunge that day wasnāt to temp. Why open at 9am of the saunas and the tubs arenāt to temperature? Cleanliness is definitely an issue. The amount of hair in the cold plunge and jet pool was gross. Maybe having someone clean the vents in the pools during the day would be a good idea. Being a spa and a place for more natural healing, I would also recommend using a more natural product, such as lemon and vinegar to clean the inside of the dry sauna. The smell of windex was horrendous and made us dizzy. We had to get buckets of water and splash off the glass to make the smell dissipate. The jets didnāt work in the pool when we were there, but wasnāt a big deal for us. The steam room needs some sort of circulation badly. The top of the room is scalding, while your feet are cold. The staff definitely needs to inform people of when things donāt work. They should also teach people of how to do the cycles because newbies would stay in for a minutes and then leave the sauna, letting all of the hot air out. And then they would do the cold plunge after the jetted pool, which makes zero sense and youād have to wait for them to leave the cold plunge after doing your 15 min...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy favorite spa in Tulum got even better with the new ownership and management! Itās become a one-stop shop for healing, community and comfort. From bomb chiropractic services to amazing stem cell treatments; they really have it all.
I recently had a very bad moto accident and was told I would need surgery on my elbow. The clinic had just helped me prepare my mind, body and soul for a deep Ibogaine experience, and I wanted their help in the pivotal and all-important integration process, as well as I wanted alternatives to surgery for my elbow. They put together a package for me that included stem cells, IVs, chiropractic services, energy work, spa treatments, hypnosis and supplements. Not only did my elbow go from a golf ball of fluid to back to normal the next day, (I swear, the next day the swelling was gone. Both the conventional doctor and I were shocked!), I feel amazing and 10 years younger. Everyone is asking me what have I been doing because I look younger and my energy feels great to them. Those are the outside bonuses that I wasnāt even expecting. Personally, I feel like a new person, and this was worth it in spades. Iām someone who has been in this space for over 15 years, and I take my health and processes very seriously; meaning I wonāt just work with anyone. At Vortex, I was taken great care of and given an incredible structure and program to allow myself the time to properly heal my mind and body. I also met some great likeminded people in the spa, who have since become close friends. I canāt thank Michael and his Vortex team enough! You have a lifelong...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to love this place - the spa pass was our favorite self care reset, we loved the hot/cold, the outside area, the sauna and steam. When we got back to tulum we were so excited to come to the spa, but sadly it was a horrible experience on so many levels, things here seem to have gone downhill. We reserved a pas for 5pm. Despite this, when we arrived, she told us āthere are over 20 people in there, it is very full, maybe you want to come back another timeā and āalso the steam room is brokenā and āalso we are out of lockers so you need to keep your stuff with the front deskā
Sorry but what is the point of making people reserve time slots? Clearly you are just letting as many people in as possible at whatever times? It is a really small place so that many people makes it very unpleasant.
The worst thing was that they put WAY too much chlorine in the cold plunge. As soon as you go in your eyes throat and lungs begin to burn badly. Everybody noticed and was talking about how their lungs were still burning from it minutes later.
Lastly, people were LOUD. Thereās a little sign that says āquiet pleaseā but nobody and cares and nobody enforces it. People were having loud conversations, shouting, one couple had a big argument while in the hot pool - like really? The staff needs to do better at telling people to be quiet because it is the opposite of a peaceful environment.
This experience was really bad - my eyes were still burning later that night from the chlorine.
Itās a beautiful place. I hope they address...
