Visited the museum because of the exhibition of Gianni Versace Retrospective. It’s a must visit for all fashion lovers. Totally worth the 5 hours driving. It’s a beautiful museum itself, the architecture design is amazing both inside and outside. Wrt the Gianni Versace Retrospective exhibition, not only are the clothes very expressive, all the mannequins are also exquisite. A true visual feast. Lovely to “walk through” his work so close-up in respective timeline. Pop stars, Pop culture, and Pop Art are three important aspects in Gianni Versace's work, and you can feel that across the exhibition. Subcultures that inspired his designs are well explained and demonstrated. Amazing to see some of his most iconic pieces and designs of all time so close up. The museum is very accessible by public transport, it’s just outside of the train station. Or by car, you can’t park on the street of the museum, as it only allowed for one hour. But there are many close by parkings available. If you have museum cards, you only need to pay €5.- to enter. Children can enter for free. Highly recommend if you plan a day to visit the north of the Netherlands. It’s right in the center, so you can also enjoy the city of Groningen.

One of the most interesting museums I have been to actually. Groninger Museum from the outside looks already very special, with the many colors and different patterns. Although it looks a bit outdated already, can use some refreshment. Was lucky enough to attend the exhibition of Daan Roosegaarde; PRESENCE. Such an inspiring, innovative exhibition. All of the exhibitions were designed in a way that it is attractive for anyone, even who is not interested in that particular topic. The biggest downside for me was the price, 15 euros is WAY too much for a museum in a small city like Groningen, seriously. Knowing that the price is higher than Pompidou, is such a shame. Lower the price, gain more public for the exhibitions.

If you are into contemporary are and design this place is definitely for you. A modern exhibition of creative light show is impressive. I've never seen an interactive one like this anywhere before. The restaurant inside the museum is a bit overpriced but which museum cafe isn't. If you have a museum card, it's free to go in and I'd really recommend buying one if you are staying in Netherlands for at least one year. Costs 60 euros, last 1 year and you'll be able to enter A LOT of museums, Castles and other touristic places for free with the card or with as little fee as 1-3 euros (while most of the museums in Netherlands cost 10-30 euros).

Each time I have to make an effort to get here from hometown Utrecht. It is always worth it ten times. I love this museum, not only because of the great exhibitions but also the layout. The design of the spaces has been done in such a way that only when you have turned around the corner of the next room, you are immersed in a totally new world compared to the room you just left. Some like the exterior too. I am definitely not one of them. If find it quite disturbing what once was. After entering the building soon forgotten though! Some photo's of the Chihuly exhibition included. Amazing glass art! #chihuly #groningermuseum

It is a magnificent museum with exhibitions changing quite so often. The building was constructed by prominent Italian architect and designer Alessando Mendini and some of the exhibition is devoted to his oeuvre. Besides, there are plenty of modern art and classical fine art refrenced somehow with Groningen. The service here is very nice and you can get a free entrance if you are a student at Groningen. There are also handy workshop areas and a restaurant. In case you have some packs with you, there are free lockers to leave your luggage
