I wish i did not have to be writing this because the waiters were incredibly kind, but the burrata pizza was simply DISGUSTING. I am not a picky eater and this is the FIRST TIME EVER I leave food at a restaurant (3/4 pizza wasted). The 1/4 i ate was painful to eat, flavorless and SOAKED with oil. The oil even went through the pizza, leaving the rucola so drenched that it became dark green with boiled spinach texture. Litteraly 5 flavorless cherry tomatoes cut in half on top. Despite this being a pizza, all I tasted was the oil. My stomach is also very upset now - even though I only had one slice… I feel like I will not eat any pizza/olive oil for a long while now… Same for burrata - one of my favorite things on earth is going to be impossible for me to eat for a loooong time… P.S.: Again, nothing personal against the waiters, they were extremely welcoming and did everything for us to have a good evening.

Both the food and the staff were so brilliant we had to come back for a second time during our two day visit to Groningen. We had the Paesana pizza and Pasta Milanese the first day, along with Tartufo di Limoncello and Tartufo di Montagne for dessert. My boyfriend was obsessed with the Tartufo Limoncello. The second day, we had two different bruschette for startes (they let us combine into one starter, which was so sweet), and the Lasagna Piccante and Ravioli Gorgonzola as mains. For dessert, my boyfriend once again had the Tartufo Limoncello, while I asked kindly if I could just have two canolli, and not the whole dessert platter. They, of course, obliged that request as well. That's how service minded they are. Superb visit to this restaurant, and we recommend it to everyone visiting Groningen.

Such a lovely place. The food was amazing. The antipasto was great. We had bread with herb butter and the bread was made out of pizza dough and so so tasty! We had pasta carbonara which was super creamy and traditionally made. The pizza carpacciata was one of the tastiest pizza’s we had in a long time. Definitely recommend these dishes. The waiter was such a happy, friendly and great guy, that really made the night super fun. Highly recommend going here!

Amazing! Whoever made the executive decision to hire the ✨Extremely Charming✨ Italian young man just ensured this restaurant's 5 star review. The restaurant is easily accessible, located right in the city centre, in a beautiful Art Nouveau tenement. The decor is rather unique, giving Italian grandma's storage, but together with the music and the enthusiastic service it creates a fun, homely atmosphere. We were also sitting right by the entrance so perhaps it's more quiet at other tables. The food was great, we ordered pasta Al Salmone (Mr Charming's favourite) and Carbonara Originale. The pasta was creamy and flavourful, although I'd say mine could use some lemon to pair well with the fish. My dad is a carbonara connoisseur, he tries it everywhere we go and he really liked this one. They also let you choose the pasta shape! (they don't have alla chitarra in case you were wondering). The prices are also really affordable compared to other Italian restaurants. Overall, a great choice. I went in knowing nothing about Groningen's Italian scene, chose the restaurant based on convenience and carbonara availability, ended up having a really good time and a fun experience in general. 100% Would...

We stumbled upon Da Carlo rather spontaneously via Google, but what an absolute stroke of luck it turned out to be! From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed by an incredibly authentic and attentive waiter. Despite not having a reservation, we were graciously offered a lovely outdoor table where we could soak in the charming atmosphere of Groningen. 🥰

Following the waiter’s excellent recommendations, we started our evening with a delicious bruschetta and refreshing drinks. The food was nothing short of amazing – the Pasta Carbonara was hands down the best I’ve had in a long time, and the Pizza Quattro Formaggi was absolutely phenomenal. 🍕🍝

What truly made the evening special, however, was the heartwarming hospitality. It was inspiring to see someone do their job with such genuine passion and joy. You could really feel the love and dedication behind every detail. This little restaurant may have been a lucky find, but I would return any time – again and again. A truly delightful...

TRIED TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THEIR OWN MISTAKE

After stressing that I am allergic towards cheese to one of the waiters , I was told that the aglio e olio dish did not have any. When I received it, it had cheese anyway . I quickly said this to one of the waiters, to which he replied “you have to pay an extra amount for having no cheese because it is against the policy of the restaurant.” And tried to make me take the blame for their own mistake. Later, he came apologising saying that it was indeed their screw up. This type of situation should not be happening in this type of a ln establishment and it’s a disappointment. Especially when he tried to GASLIGHT me saying there was never cheese on the dish, until i pulled out a picture from a couple of months ago showing that the dish didn’t have cheese.

Apart from this terrible service, the aglio olio ended up having no taste, and tasted just like plain chili. The spaghetti bolognese was...
