Grand Café Mr. Bakels — Restaurant in Groningen

I ordered a Kasteel rouge and a beer for my boyfriend. Both were out of carbonation. My boyfriend didn't want to ask for a new, but mine tasted like sad juice and was undrinkable. I asked for a new one and the waitress said "it's because it's the first of the day"... as an experienced bartender, that already alarmed me. My second one, flat as well. Then I asked for a aperol spritz and it was completely flat as well. I go and tell the girls and the show me a huge 2 liter bottle with the smallest amount left and tells me, that it still has bubbles. Absolutely service. No sorries, no checking of the kegs or anything.

Please employ proper trained staff. I even ended up PAYING...

I only came here to let the visitors (and residents) of Groningen know that this cafe has the best THE BEST cheesecake ever. It is the only thing I've tried from their menu and I just want to keep having it. The flavours change weekly but whichever flavour I've had, it's been absolutely mind blowing. Over the years they have also upgraded the presentation of it. It's my guilty pleasure to come here when I'm high hehehe. (Don't worry I've also had the cheesecake sober and it's still banging, so it wasn't the weed talking). The chill lighting and relaxed atmosphere with beautiful hanging plants and cute booths are also a plus point...

Great food!!! First of all,,, very nice staff members! Very friendly, very much attentive, and very much keen to help the customers with the best of their knowledge! Mustard soup was lipsmacking!!! We ordered it without becon and was too good!!! Veganburger was juicy and tasty!!! Complementary french fries were top notch! I wasn't expecting it to be that good, because it's just a complementary side food!!! But, it was just fingerlickinh!
