We had a really disappointing experience with a very rude captain. We purposely booked this tour as we were told an English commentary would be provided however, upon boarding the boat and greeting the captain, she questioned if we were English and when we agreed she proceeded to make a snide remark in Dutch towards us. This made us feel uncomfortable but we were still looking forward to the boat tour until the audio commenced and we realised that she had set the system up to only provide Dutch and German commentaries (this was done on a tablet next to her which we watched her set up). We felt embarrassed and isolated as our other peers were able to engage with the tour whilst we were left completely unaware as to any background or information on the sights of the tour. Overall this was an upsetting experience which put a dampener on the last day of our holiday. I would warn any English tourists to steer well clear from this tour as we completely wasted our money (30 euros for 2 adults) to be treated so poorly. All I can assume is that she has a disliking for the English which is...

This was a relaxing and easy canal tour. We went to the ticket booth on the street 15 minutes before the next tour was leaving. It was quick and easy to buy tickets. We walked down the stairs from the street to their lower level and boarded the boat. There were bathrooms available for our use at Boules Bar at the canal level. The staff were great and friendly. We did the 60 minute tour which was plenty. It drive us all around the city while a pre-recorded audio tape played in several different languages. I gave it 4 stars because I found it a bit boring and don’t think that I learned very much. It was one or two sentences in English then those sentences were translated to French, then Dutch and several other languages, so it was a minute or so before they played another fact in English. But I understand that’s the only way to do it for a large group. Next time I would book a smaller more personalized tour, but this was great for a last minute plan. The boat was large and slow and calm and at no time was anyone at risk for...

No Recommendation! We thought we get an great and interesting Trip through the Grachten from Utrecht, but got an boring, expensive 1-hour-tour with an old ship. Sorry, that's not that what we expected. The ship was old and bad build, so we always had a part of the windows in front of our eyes. Although the guys who have their seats near the roof window could make some nice pictures out of the roof top window. Furthermore we are from Germany, the interesting things about the Grachten, told from a good German voice out of the speakers, were always to late, because the were to many other languages before. So we couldn't comprehend what about the voice is telling us some history stuff. We were sad, because we know a better tour from Amsterdam. Not...

Depends on what you initially expect as to whether this is good value or not. If you just want to while away an hour and a half then it's perfect. If you want to learn a bit of the city's history then you'll get that too. The boat captain was very competent at the helm and maybe one shouldn't expect more. He steadfastly refrained from offering any additional titbits to the recorded commentary. Quite a few of the points of interest mentioned were obscured by leafy trees or work boats. Our trip had a 7 min delayed start, waiting for last minute passengers and finished about 2 mins before the hour and half allotted. So had we not already done a 'free' walking tour we would have missed many other sights. So for us it barely gets 4 stars.

It's a nice tour with fun facts about the city. I felt like the English voice was less loud than the Dutch and German, which made it hard to hear at times. Also because of the 3 languages it was at times unclear what building or sight the information was about. I was considering 4 stars, but because of the price I gave one less. In my opinion it is a bit overpriced for that you get. But it is good fun and a nice different and quick way to see the city.
