New Brighton Beach Bench — Attraction in Christchurch

Parking - Different spots to park your car however it all depends for how long you need to be there. Option 1 - 60 Minutes Parking just in front of the Beach however who would want to be at beach for 60 minutes. Option 2 - Just at the end of the road on the left hand side you would see enough parking spots with no time limitation - would suggest to use this spot for parking. Coffee and Ice cream - You would see a van sitting over there which serves Coffee and Ice cream. No Paywave though. Walk from Parking - You need to walk for 7-10 minutes to get to the Children rides and another 2-3 minutes to get to the Beach which is just opposite to children ride. Children Ride - All rides are free which includes nice pool, trampoline, rain water, ride which rotates round and round, few others... Toilets and Showers - Both are available and are neat and tidy. Beach - Nice Beach to be at. Waves are not strong so even small kids can enjoy, we went with our 11 months Daughter and she enjoyed a lot. Most of the times it is windy and you could see the dust floating in the air which makes it bit difficult to enjoy ur snacks or lunch without mixture of sand in it. Water is not too cold. Sand - Sand is neat which gives opportunity to kids to play around in it or may be to eat it which is ok - my personal view. Dogs - You are allowed to take ur dog. Nearby Places - Countdown just opposite to Beach, Liquor Store 2 minutes away, Ice-cream Parlour opposite to Beach. Overall nice spot to relax and enjoy ur day with...

The natural parts of this area are beautiful. The beach is huge and the sand is soft. Great for kids and families. The man made part like the peir and buildings are in much need of attention. Even if they were to just be cleaned it would improve it greatly. Does look like they are building something new there though. So much to do after the earth quake so I'm thinking progress is slow.
