Always a joy to come here for adults at night and children by day 😜 things for younger kids like big slides or spinning bucket chances are they may need an adult with them. Giant spiders web that even the most cranky teen will enjoy. Flying fox as a set so you can race your friend if you wanna lose because you didn't get a running start lol. There is a water play section for the summer but not always working with current alert levels. There are food trucks that occasionally are there more than most and are parked under the shade section closest to the street. The time I went was hot chips, hot dogs, ice cream, donuts and coffee (thank God). There is a toilet block with rather fancy and automated toilet set up. Felt very hygienic and maybe a little creepy as I kinda got a bit confused trying to figure out the locking and the buttons for things but happy to use them always now as I swear best public toilets I’ve found. If want to feed the ducks there are many hanging around as the Avon runs parallel to the park with a nice little dock for people to come and sit. There are of course many seagulls so be ready for them. There are seats along the boarders of the play area as well as covered picnic/bbq areas down the other side of the hill between the playground and the carpark. Limited car parks so get in quick or may find it a bit tricky as it’s a very...
Read moreThis is an amazing facility in Christchurch, named for one of New Zealands best and most iconic children's authors.. The park caters for children of all ages and levels of daring, with equipment ranging from large spider webs, flying foxes, slides and seesaw, to a high tower with a fantastic spiral slide/ tube. My granddaughter loved the splash pad, with its water cannons, mystery fountains and all sorts of water features. We stayed for several hours. There was food available from stalls beside the park, rubbish disposal and recycling bins nearby, and public toilet facilities on the edge of the park. If you have time to spare, and kids with you, go there and have some fun. They even have talking tunes around for kids to call each other. All kinds of fun. Margaret would have loved it. The only criticism I have is that it should in some way reflect her personality, or the character(s) of her writing. Go there....
Read moreThis has to be the most insane phenomenon i've seen on gods green flat earth. All these magnificent contraptions around the hilly landscapes of the park at first glance spark curiosity in it's victims, although create such an incredible sensation when utilising the contraptions. In the school holidays, when I regularly visit this playground (with my wagon full of my most precious valuables, locked away in a suitcase in said wagon) I get to watch these outstanding creatures that resemble traffic cones with legs, as they frolic amongst their traffic cone friends. I took it upon myself to inquire these critters on what the big majestic metal plate was used for, and they answered "sir, that contraption; the general public name a 'slide'.". How peculiar, traffic cones with legs! My pet lizard (of 3 years, named Rupert) will definitely love this place, when I take her on my...
