Stepping into the opulent realm of this classical and romantic theater is akin to entering a sanctuary where art and sophistication entwine in a graceful dance. Every facet of this exquisite venue resonates with a timeless elegance that transports patrons to an era of refined grandeur. The regal architecture, adorned with intricate details reminiscent of a bygone epoch, speaks volumes about the dedication to preserving the aesthetic finesse of classical beauty. Velvet-draped boxes and gilded balustrades create an atmosphere of unparalleled luxury, inviting patrons to indulge in the allure of a bygone era. As the dimmed lights cast a warm glow upon plush velvet seats, one can't help but feel enveloped in an aura of refined enchantment. The stage, a canvas for artistic expression, becomes a portal to a world where each note and every movement resonates with the profound echoes of timeless tales and sublime melodies. Attending a performance in this distinguished theater is not merely a cultural experience; it's a journey into the lap of sophistication and artistic opulence. The melding of classical aesthetics with a touch of romantic allure creates an ambiance that elevates the theatrical experience to an unparalleled height of sophistication and grandiosity.

Isaac is the iconic highlight of the city! Both exterior and interior are unique Edwardian style, rebuild completely after earthquake. The atmosphere inside is just great with close to the stage creating unique bond between performers and spectators. We have visited multiple times for various events, concerts and plays and it never disappoints. Staff is super helpful and friendly offering fantastic service from the moment you step through the doors. Only improvement will be if seats were more comfortable and the design of seats is not the best as if someone tall sits in front of you it will block the view, but you can still manage for 2 hours.

A stunning looking theatre, absolutely gorgeous detail inside. Far bigger than I realised it was until I arrived and found out from a staff member it'll comfortably seat 1100 with the two circles open. Staff were very friendly, informative and accomodating. The seating is comfortable and arranged in an offset style to maximise viewing and reducing the possibility you'll be stuck behind a tall person restricting your view. The bathrooms are very nice, well maintained and clean at all times I visited them

In my honest opinion this is the most beautiful theatre in all of New Zealand for so many reasons. From the moment the Isaac Theatre comes into view as you turn into Gloucester Street you know you are in for a special evening. It looks stunning lit up at night, and the layout is simple yet effective, with a fully stocked bar conveniently located to your right as you walk in the door.

Entering the theatre itself sends chills down my spine every time, the decor is simply awe inspiring. As time progresses so does the theatre, with the lighting improving show upon show, and the acoustics are second to none. I have experienced concerts such as Lorde through to Comedic evenings with The Topp Twins, and of course live theatre performances, with all of them suiting the venue superbly.

The seating is comfortable enough, and the ushers are all equally helpful and their passion for theatre is prominent as they guide you through to your seat, you can tell they all simply love working there.

Such a wonderful asset to this city, I truly hope this remains for many more generations to come so that we may all continue to enjoy the best theatre in this country, The Isaac Theatre Royal,...

This is a beautifully restored theatre and I have been here numerous times since its reopening; I was inspired to after attending Sir Ian McKellen's fund raising tour for this theatre in 2012 that he so enjoyed performing at previously.

The engineering precision taken to achieve optimum seating plans for viewing, on three tiers, are quite remarkable and, similarly, hide earthquake proof construction behind the scenes, to safeguard the building for many years to come.

With excellent access for wheelchairs, a new lift system and bars available on all three levels, it is a gem of a theatre.

I have enjoyed every type of show here, from large scale West End productions, to comedians and musical concerts - the latest being Elaine Page and her jazzy band, just two days ago. Add wonderful acoustics to the mix and this theatre deserves every touring show it can attract and all the patrons it can...
