Popped in for the novelty of the ole sushi train, but found surprisingly few plates on the belt for 7pm on a Friday night. Perhaps 12 options, salmon, tuna, shrimp, edamame, mayo heavy rolls. All the plates are $5.30 which is interesting. I tried a few, found them mediocre at best, and opted for a bowl of the spicy Udon seafood soup for $23 NZD.

This dish was an improvement, not very spicy, (this is New Zealand after all) but served hot and with the typical frozen seafood bag of 3 large shrimp, 2 mussels, some kami crab sticks, squid and cabbage. A decent portion for the price, and filling.

Water is self serve from a nearby tap, odd. Service was harried but pleasant. The soup was acceptable but not great, and with so many other enticing options within lunging distance at the market, I doubt I'd ride the...

I had a very disappointing experience at Sushi Train tonight. Tonight was my last night in NZ; I was craving sushi, and this spot looked fun.

We entered the restaurant at about 8:15; the restaurant was empty (closes at 9 PM), so we asked if we could sit and eat and we were waved in by the hostess.

There was only cold tempura and spring rolls left on the conveyor belt, so we asked to order some food. This seemed to annoy the chef, and it was awkward watching the waitress take our order then deliver the order to the unhappy chef.

Overall, we felt like we were inconveniencing the staff so we ate some food off the conveyor belt and left.

The food was cold and disappointing just like...

This place had the nicest staff! They were super helpful and offered to make anything off the menu that we can’t find on the train. We started off dinner with a few plates off the train. some of the plates were great but the salmon sashimi didn’t taste as fresh as I wanted it but that was the only downside. I highly recommend instead of taking plates off the sushi train order the made to order plates and they were all delicious and tasted super fresh! This place would definitely get a 5 star review if the train sushi was just a little fresher tasting everything else was perfect! Definitely come and check out this place for a cool experience.
