This cafe is super popular and no doubt as to why when you get to dine here. The staff are super organized. Firstly, they let you know of any wait time. Today, there were 4 of us, and we did have roughly a 20-minute wait. Finally we were seated and ordered some food, yes we over ordered because the food portions are very generous but oh so tasty. The servers were amazing, friendly, and attententive yet busy as, and hats of to the chef and team because the food is 10/10. The cabinet food is incredible, the slices looked amazing, and we tried the brownie, which was so fudgy and decadent. The cheese scones are massive, beautifully toasted with loads of butter on the side. The banana bread is thick and luscious. Others that dined with us had the avo on toast and eggs bene, and they loved their meals. The coffee is so good as well. This place is so worth a visit. I love the decor inside...industrial and love the plants hanging from the ceiling! Parking is a bit difficult, there is paid 60 min parking on the road outside the front of the cafe but if you go around the block by the Southwark apartments there is free 60 mins parking on the road and you can walk through one of the car park areas to easily get to the cafe. Would highly recommend Unknown Chapter Coffee!!

Update for this year 2024 Brought the kids back to have lunch and this place did not disappoint. Food is great. Coffee is great. No complaints. I even have a video testimonial from my daughter. 😅 Totally recommended if you are in the city. Previous review What do you do when you find yourself in this part of town that you are not familiar with, and with a couple of hours to spare while waiting for your child's birthday party to end..? I rarely give 5 stars for everything as I feel we always have potential to improve. To be better, to be better than what we picture ourselves can achieve. I fortuitously find myself in a lovely perfect space. The coffee was great, right temp, right taste 😊. As it was later in the day, I got myself a chicken feta cashew filo. It's one of the yummiest I had so far. I'm impressed by the quality of the ingredients and price. Great balance going. 👍🏻 The place was packed, so it was hard to get pictures with empty seats. Did managed some what. So overall. 👋🏻 5 Stars ⭐ for us. Usually cafes are often visited in transit. This is one Cafe that will be on our list of destination. Well done crew.

Update 06.07.23 The "Vege" I had last week was excellent so took my father and kids for brunch on Thursday, around 11am. Ordered the Vege again but was pretty disappointed, not only did it look quite different, with less food on the plate but the rosti, mushrooms and tomato looked and tasted like they had been cooked in a microwave. I ended up eating the 1 bit of bread and letting the kids pick at the rest. Service and coffee was great as usual but had to knock a star off for food. At these prices the food needs to be consistently great. .................................................................. Breakfast was good, a little extra avo would have made it great. Smoothie was great. Coffee was roasted differently to what we are used to but good. Cafe was very busy and quite noisy, not a child friendly location as a lot of foot traffic and quite tight seating. This was on a weekday. Parking was a little difficult.

On a last day of 2021, I decide to give myself a treat. I love eggs benedict and i am very fussy about the quality. Many times, they were just about average. So, this time, I used Google to search for the best eggs bene in Christchurch. Being this time of year, many places are closed..and rightly so. My favourite place is closed, too. So, I finally picked "Unknown Chapter" because they use sourdough. Many places use potato hash which I don't like. Well, the place was packed! One good thing about dining alone is...you get to be seated very quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by attentiveness of a young "front of house" lady. Because I had no way of keeping my seat and ordering at the counter, she took my order and payment using portable devices. Coffee came quickly. I observed staff working, what appeared, effortlessly; no agitation; smiling; making eye contact with customers; filling in gaps for each other; no customer left unattended... Food arrived, beautifully presented on a black plate - 2 big slices of sourdough, sauce, spinach, crisp bacon and flat mushrooms. I was greedy and the portion was way too much for me. But...I eat it all! Thank you all - staff and chefs - for making my outing a...

recently visited unknown chapter and had a fantastic experience. This cafe truly stands out as one of the best in Christchurch, and I wholeheartedly agree with its stellar reputation. The food was exceptional, particularly the eggs Benedict, which are hands down the best I've ever had. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the chef's expertise and attention to detail.Equally impressive was the coffee. The barista was on point, crafting each cup with precision and care. The coffee was rich, aromatic, and provided the perfect complement to the meal. The service was impeccable as well. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure every aspect of our visit was enjoyable. It's clear that the team at this cafe is well-organized and dedicated to providing an excellent customer experience. As a long-term customer, I can confidently recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a top-notch cafe experience in Christchurch. Whether you're there for a quick coffee or a leisurely brunch, you're sure to be impressed.Overall this cafe is a fantastic representation of what a well-organized and high-quality cafe should be. Don't miss out...
