We often eat at Little High we love it, great food and atmosphere. We recommend it to all our friends and family that visit Christchurch. I have always taken food in when we visit the eatery for my children because they are allergic to eggs, diary and nuts. Ive never had a problem with bring our own food in for them, probably because they're toddlers. The main reason I bring in food is because of their allergies. It's easier because I know it's definitely food they won't have any reactions to. I have never had a problem bringing outside food for them to Little High. No one has ever said anything to me. I usually just bring a cooked dinner for them from home but on our 2nd to last visit we brought in some Happy Meals from Mcds. As soon as we walked through the door a worker who works for the eatery came up to us and said we couldn't do that. We went back and forth as to why we bring in food and that no one has had a problem with it before and she said well you can't it's our rules. So I asked to talk to the manager who I then explained our situation to and he said it was fine. I do understand the policy, but they are toddlers and it's not like we are speading alittle amount money either. Every time we go to Little High is with a large group of our family so we're spending quite alot. Anyways we went to dinner on Monday night and did the same thing for our kids and the same worker was there and came up to us before we had even walked into the building. She said the same thing about the food and I said ok. I thought oh it's not very busy at all I'm sure they won't mind if the kids just eat outside in the outdoor area. Literally no one was there because we went at like 5.30pm. The same girl came out to us again and said they can't eat that food here and so we moved again to some picnic tables that were outside the outdoor eating area of Little High. The kids are eating and disturbing no one because literally no one is there yet the same girl comes out, super rude this time and says they can't eat here. I said are these chairs still apart of Little High and she said yes. So she made us move the kids again. I understand why they don't want food being brought in but come on, these are kids. We came with 8 adults who all bought something for dinner from the eatery. What really ticked me off is I saw another family who had a toddler and they had obvious brought food in for their child. It was in plain sight on their table, they had bought food from the supermarket. The only difference between that family and mine was that they were white and mine is brown.
We won't be returning to Little High anytime soon nor recommending it to our family or friends. Such a shame for those eateries to lose money because of...

My husband and I have always loved Little High — it’s been one of our favourite places to eat in Christchurch. However, our recent visit left us feeling pretty disappointed.
Now with a two-year-old in tow, we stopped by to pick up a takeaway pizza. On the way, we grabbed two coffees, which were nearly finished by the time we arrived. While waiting outside for our order, our daughter was calmly eating a baby food pouch and we were finishing off the last sips of our coffees.
Out of nowhere, the manager came out and told us our daughter couldn’t eat outside food and that we weren’t allowed to drink our coffees — despite the fact we were standing outdoors, waiting to leave with our food. We explained we were just waiting briefly and had purchased food from Little High. Instead of a calm conversation, the manager repeated his message over and over (at least five times), even as we expressed our confusion over the fuss.
Eventually, I began recording the interaction because it felt unnecessarily confrontational. By the end, the manager retracted his initial stance, saying we didn’t have to leave, and that he was just “informing us” — for about the tenth time.
The whole interaction was uncomfortable, especially considering we weren’t causing any disruption. It felt overly aggressive, and frankly, not family-friendly. We’ve loved this place for years, but after this experience, we’re...
Read moreFound this gem of a place tucked away in Christchurch central area. Picture a food court - but with reasonably priced, quality food in a cosy yet open space. Fussy about what to eat? This warm space will alleviate your inability to choose what to eat. For those days when you feel like steamed pork buns but you also want an iced mocha, or wood fired pizza with thai street food and bacon butties, or simply when you're with your friends and you all want different things - fear not my children. Your cravings are merely metres apart in this food temple. Your first half hour of parking is also free. I gave this place a five for its diversity and comfortable environment. I am yet to try more food, but so far so good. Service varies from okay to great for the most part. Will be frequenting this place on the regular from now on - the type of place where you can eat alone but not feel lonely. There are places inside that offer vegan/vegetarian options as well. Christchurch needs more places like this, it's good for the city Say goodbye to the screaming misery of mall foodcourts - where each minute beats it's 60 seconds to death accompanied by the cacophony of the daily...
