We walked in to have some breakie at this cafe and when we walked in the lady at the counter/till asked us abruptly what we wanted. It wasn’t a “what can I get you today”, “it was a “what do you want”. We hadn’t decided and she said move to the side in an aggressive tone. Anyway we had a look at the menu and decided what we wanted. We went back to her to order and she told us it was going to be a 30minute wait for food. We decided to just order two takeaway coffees. I placed our order and waited to the side. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, I thought I should check, just incase as the cafe was very busy (being the only cafe that’s open for breakie in te anau). Anyway I asked about the 2 coffees and was given a very rude reply. I said “I just wanted to check on our two coffees please” She told me you loudly infront of all other customers you only ordered at 9:30 and it’s only 9:45 and the staff at the back of the counter( 5 staff members) proceeded to all laugh at me for asking. She then said they’re here and gave them to me. Honestly I felt really disrespected and all I was doing was just checking and not demanding for our coffees. Poor customer service and rude staff members. I understand they’re very busy but that doesn’t mean you can be abrupt and rude to your customers! Nobody should be spoken to in...
Read moreThe allure of the name itself is intriguing: Sandfly! Intrigued by its reputation for offering the best coffee in the South Island, I decided to pay a visit – and I wasn't disappointed. The mochaccino I ordered was just right – not overly sweet – and its invigorating coffee aroma managed to keep me awake despite having had just 3 hours of sleep. As a pleasant bonus, they provide wifi, which is always a welcome touch.
While the cabinet food and breakfast menu didn't particularly catch my eye, I did give their in-house made savory muffin a try – it was decent, though not extraordinary. However, the true star of the show here is undoubtedly the COFFEE. While it may not be my top pick in the South Island, it's still undeniably good. The atmosphere is delightful, offering the option to enjoy your coffee indoors or bask in the sun outdoors, perhaps donning a pair of sunglasses. There's no doubt that this is the best way to...
Read moreCoffee and food take away. The food came out about time. But the coffee staff(don’t even wanna say barista) clearly discriminating some people over others. My coffee didn’t come even after couple of 4-5 people who ordered after me. I have to ask the staff again for my order. The female coffee maker didn’t even seem to bother or sorry and another staff member made my coffee. Also, my take away food had hair in it. They are racists and gave me excuse of cafe busy time. Not happy.
Well, since you replied my review, if you are the owner, let me put some more of my opinions here. Please do check other reviewers who are Asians and other nationalities. They all seem to think that your staff members are neither nicer nor kind to other tourists!!! They laughed at the customers who didn’t speak fluently and rude to others who ordered food at your place!!! You should be better, you live in a bicultural and a...
