Very helpful and kind staff, even on a busy day! This place is a great stop for those going to milford sound and want to grab a bite of lunch. The Hash Stack was a great pile of flavour, the eggs being not as runny as I would like, but the potatoes were crispy and well salted. The Halloumi Burger was delicious, the cheese was soft and not too salty. The side of Smoked Salmon was good, with a very strong fish flavour. The Steak Burger tasted fine, but the steak, being quite thin, was cooked too quite well done, with little redness left. It was tender, but not as juicy as I would have liked. The Lemon Tea was standard. The Pumpkin Soup was very pureed, naturally sweet and warm, a bit too effortless to eat in a way. The coffee was good too. Overall, whether it's a stop for coffee or a bite, this place suits most occasion.

We ordered breakfast for four and the service was really good and quick even though it was very busy. Food was excellent and very satisfying portions. Cafe was very clean and has a really nice quirky feel to it. The only reason I am giving 4 stars for atmosphere is because there isn't much seating indoors and you don't want to sit outside in a very cold, windy and rainy weather. Locals say say it rains 4 days out of 5 which I am honestly just taking their word. Free parking available easily and its a very convenient location and food is really good any time there. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well, they even try to customise the request as best as they could. My daughter had bagels with cream cheese and berry jam and said thad they were the best. Overall very happy to visit again which we did the next day🙂

We arrived early and the place was packed. They were very organised with a person taking coffee orders on a portable iPad which was a good idea. I would imagine it’s a matter of making hay while the sun shines in a tourist town like this. However, I was unimpressed with the eggs benedict order that I had to order a side of spinach (why can’t it come with spinach like most eggs bene?) which cost an extra $7 (see photo). It wouldn’t have looked so miserly if they’d either presented it on a smaller plate or supplied more of it. Presentation is not their strong point and even a swirl of balsamic glaze would improve the boring looking meal. A comment to the manager about the cost of the spinach was met with a shrug of the shoulders….

We walked in to have some breakie at this cafe and when we walked in the lady at the counter/till asked us abruptly what we wanted. It wasn’t a “what can I get you today”, “it was a “what do you want”. We hadn’t decided and she said move to the side in an aggressive tone. Anyway we had a look at the menu and decided what we wanted. We went back to her to order and she told us it was going to be a 30minute wait for food. We decided to just order two takeaway coffees. I placed our order and waited to the side. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, I thought I should check, just incase as the cafe was very busy (being the only cafe that’s open for breakie in te anau). Anyway I asked about the 2 coffees and was given a very rude reply. I said “I just wanted to check on our two coffees please” She told me you loudly infront of all other customers you only ordered at 9:30 and it’s only 9:45 and the staff at the back of the counter( 5 staff members) proceeded to all laugh at me for asking. She then said they’re here and gave them to me. Honestly I felt really disrespected and all I was doing was just checking and not demanding for our coffees. Poor customer service and rude staff members. I understand they’re very busy but that doesn’t mean you can be abrupt and rude to your customers! Nobody should be spoken to in...

The allure of the name itself is intriguing: Sandfly! Intrigued by its reputation for offering the best coffee in the South Island, I decided to pay a visit – and I wasn't disappointed. The mochaccino I ordered was just right – not overly sweet – and its invigorating coffee aroma managed to keep me awake despite having had just 3 hours of sleep. As a pleasant bonus, they provide wifi, which is always a welcome touch.

While the cabinet food and breakfast menu didn't particularly catch my eye, I did give their in-house made savory muffin a try – it was decent, though not extraordinary. However, the true star of the show here is undoubtedly the COFFEE. While it may not be my top pick in the South Island, it's still undeniably good. The atmosphere is delightful, offering the option to enjoy your coffee indoors or bask in the sun outdoors, perhaps donning a pair of sunglasses. There's no doubt that this is the best way to...

Coffee and food take away. The food came out about time. But the coffee staff(don’t even wanna say barista) clearly discriminating some people over others. My coffee didn’t come even after couple of 4-5 people who ordered after me. I have to ask the staff again for my order. The female coffee maker didn’t even seem to bother or sorry and another staff member made my coffee. Also, my take away food had hair in it. They are racists and gave me excuse of cafe busy time. Not happy.

Well, since you replied my review, if you are the owner, let me put some more of my opinions here. Please do check other reviewers who are Asians and other nationalities. They all seem to think that your staff members are neither nicer nor kind to other tourists!!! They laughed at the customers who didn’t speak fluently and rude to others who ordered food at your place!!! You should be better, you live in a bicultural and a...
