Taste Bakery & Roast — Attraction in Henderson-Massey

We stopped by Taste Bakery and Roast in Henderson this morning and picked up a selection of pies: steak and cheese, mince and cheese, bacon and egg, and the smoked fish. The pastry on each pie was very flaky, just as you’d hope, and they were generously filled. While a couple of the pies could have used a bit more cheese—perhaps just a batch variation—they were still tasty. One thing that really stands out here is the sheer variety of flavours on offer; the cabinet is packed with options, so you’re truly spoilt for choice. The mince and cheese pie was a highlight, with a gravy that had a distinct flavour—different from any other mince and cheese pies I’ve tried. Everything in the display, from the pastries to the roast foods, looked freshly made and inviting. The staff were excellent too—super friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. Parking is a breeze thanks to the large lot, so no worries there. If you’re a pie lover, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I had a pork roll combo. It was okay it chose not to have the salad, which was lettuce and carrot. I passed on that and just went for the roll, pork, gravy, and apple sauce. The roll was long and a decent size but tasted a little stale. I have had better roast rolls from out west, unfortunately not from these guys.

I also tried a bacon and egg pie, and I wish I hadn't. It was late in the day when I ate this. The pastry was nice and crunchy, like as it should be, but... the filling just didn't even meet me halfway. It was dry and almost tasteless, which put me off.

I might try a steak n cheese or a mice and cheese pie if I am ever in the neighbourhood again, but I've got choices.

Other than that, the place is clean. The sammys look nice, but I'm not sure if I'd try one. They have won awards for some pies, and so far, I wouldn't award them one for the bacon and egg pie, but they have one.

Maybe if I was really hungry, I wouldn't go here. Eat better and go down to Subway, Better luck next time, 2/5 for me. Happy...

We have come to this store for a few years, the food was good. Suprised and disapointed when we filled our small roast container with unetable fatty meat and pure fat. This person new what they were doing and its unaceptable. He was weighing the container and I saw him take a nice piece off instead of the fat. I dont like fat, I dont like paying for it, especially when they are weighing the containers and clearly know they are selling me fat for the price of pork. Underhanded and unacceptable. Wont be going back! This upset my otherwise peaceful night as I had calm my wife down, as it was her money that paid for it. I'm guessing the Gold card isnt accepted at this shop. We hope you all like paying for and eating fat, because from our experience thats what you will be getting from this shop. I chose the one star as no stars is...
