Nestled conveniently next to street parking, Duck Island Ice Cream in Wellington, New Zealand, attracts a sizable crowd. However, don't let the bustling scene deter you, as the order-taking process remains efficient. Despite the crowd, we waited only 20 minutes before it was our turn to indulge in their delectable treats.

One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to taste the different ice cream flavors before making our selection. With approximately 14 enticing flavors to choose from, we were spoiled for choice.

The scoop sizes were average, and the texture of the ice cream was spot-on—creamy and delightful. I opted for the sorbet, and it exceeded my expectations in terms of taste.

For those who prefer a refreshing drink alongside their ice cream, self-service tap water is readily available.

In addition to the street parking, we were pleasantly surprised to find that parking outside the street was also readily available, making our visit even more convenient.

Furthermore, Duck Island Ice Cream caters to various dietary needs with a range of gluten-free options, ensuring that everyone can indulge in their delectable treats.

Despite the sizable crowd and the parking situation, our experience at Duck Island Ice Cream was nothing short of delightful. It's a must-visit destination for any ice cream enthusiast...

We were recommended this ice cream shop as the best in New Zealand. It was indeed quite good.

Let's start with the flavours. I had two different flavours, coffee chocolate rubble as bottom scoop of the cone and coconut caramel sesame chocolate peanut on the top. The names could definitely be improved from the pretty lengthy and descriptive ones they've been given.

Second the size was not sufficient for the steep price of $7.50 for a single scoop. I'm a firm believer that ice cream should be served in abundance no matter the size you actually ordered. Nothing better than getting a small and someone saying "what that's a small? it's so big, no way that's a small". I didn't receive this reaction. In fact possibly the opposite.

Lastly was the taste. I have to give them credit here. The soft and creamy feel was top notch. Coconut caramel sesame chocolate peanut was the better flavour - sweet but not overwhelming.

Verdict - can't wait for...

Absolutely amazing experience at Duck Island in Wellington!

The ice cream here is hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. The flavors are super creative and always changing — I tried the roasted white chocolate and miso caramel, and it was mind-blowingly good. You can really taste the quality in every scoop.

What made the visit even better was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and patient while I took forever to decide what I wanted. They offered generous samples and made sure I found something I’d love.

The store itself has a fun, cozy vibe, and you can tell they put a lot of love into everything they do. Duck Island is a must-visit if you’re in Wellington — I’ll definitely be back again...

The best ice cream I had in Wellington. Prices are very reasonable. Since the place was crowded we did take away the ice creams. Lots of options are there, so then you can pickup as you desire. We went for the cone option. It was starting from $7 1-2 flavors. We went with fresh minty chip and white chocolate pomegranate, I would say the most delicious.. Staff is friendly and serving quickly. Place is well maintained and clean. The pink atmosphere is really nice and gives an ice cream coziness and vibe..
