Unnecessary Hassle Over Age Verification I recently visited with my mother and sister, which turned into an unexpectedly frustrating experience. Upon reaching the cashier named Richie to pay for our items, including alcohol, she called over a colleague to handle the transaction. This individual, who notably lacked a name badge, requested an ID from us. Despite being 32 and accompanied by my 60-year-old mother, we were taken aback by the request. We informed him that we were together and that my mother would be paying. He insisted on seeing my mother's passport, but we only had her driver's license, which he refused to accept. Without any explanation or sense of courtesy, he removed the bottles from our purchase. After paying for the remaining items, I approached him to discuss the store's policy, which I had photographed earlier. The policy clearly states that if a person appears over 25, ID verification isn't necessary—this should apply doubly to my mother, who is well over that age. His explanations were convoluted and untruthful, leading to a discussion with the cashier. I requested to speak with the manager, who immediately understood the situation. She was very kind and helpful, apologizing for the inconvenience and returning the confiscated bottles to us. We completed the purchase and left the store. However, the encounter left us feeling belittled by the employee's conduct, reflecting poorly on the store's customer service standards. It's disheartening when enforcement of policies lacks common sense and respect for customers.

PAK’nSave Rotorua is a large warehouse-style supermarket known for its competitive prices and wide selection of groceries, similar in feel to stores like Costco or Lidl. It offers great deals on everyday food and household items, making it a popular choice for locals and tourists looking to save money. The store features a bakery, deli, seafood, and dairy sections, and accessible parking. We appreciate the low prices and the volume of products available. We found similar items cheaper here than Woolworth, although some more expensive brands are not available. Staff are helpful. The store environment feel busy but checkout lines are efficient. Overall, the supermarket is a go-to for those prioritizing affordability over a polished shopping environment

I had an extremely unpleasant experience at this Pak’nSave. Unlike other locations, this store has an inconsistent and unreasonable policy that doesn’t allow customers to bring bags inside. On top of that, while using self-checkout, a staff member insisted on checking my credit card name without any explanation. I have never experienced this anywhere else in New Zealand. What made it worse was the rude and dismissive attitude of the staff, especially Frank, who even told me I could complain about him and suggested I shop somewhere else. The way I was treated felt disrespectful and even discriminatory. This store seriously needs to improve its customer service and staff training.

Complaint Regarding Discriminatory and Unprofessional Treatment at Pak'nSave Rotorua

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment we received at Pak'nSave in Rotorua on the evening of 29th October.

We had come from Auckland to Rotorua for the weekend, and around 8:52PM, we entered the store to quickly pick up a few items. Upon entering, the security guard informed us that the store would be closing in five minutes and asked us to make our purchases quickly. We completely understood the situation and headed straight to grab some chips, intending to check out immediately. This took us no more than one minute.

However, as we were selecting our items, an employee, who appeared to be of Indian descent, approached us and rudely demanded that we leave immediately. We informed him that we were about to check out, but he insisted we leave right away. What was particularly disturbing was that there were other non-Asian customers in the store at the same time, but he ignored them and only targeted us, seemingly assuming that we, as Asian customers, wouldn’t speak English. His attitude was not only unnecessarily harsh but also discriminatory.

To make matters worse, as we were being hurried out, we overheard him speaking to a female colleague, calling us "ridiculous." This blatant lack of professionalism and respect left us feeling deeply offended. If your staff believed that the store was closed, then they should not have allowed us to enter in the first place. However, having been in the store for merely a minute, we were treated with unnecessary hostility.

We understand the pressures of closing time, but we believe all customers should be treated equally and with respect, regardless of their background or appearance. The way we were treated was clearly discriminatory, and the behavior of your staff member was unacceptable.

I urge you to address this issue promptly and ensure that such incidents do not happen again. We would appreciate a response regarding how you plan to address...

Should I go into pack and save with a friend it's been 3 months since I went in there last time .I am 71 years old . I walked from Waka to the redwoods and took a video of it 35 minutes then I walked for another 40 minutes I was tired when I went into pack and save stayed for less than 10 minutes . I went behind pack and save near the wall painting for a rest and eat food . I then hear an angry lady shouting at me. ( she thought I was going to ask her out. OH NO ITS HER MY NIGHTMARE I DID NOT KNOW SHE WORKED THERE. .IN 1981 I MADE THEVMISTAKE OF TELLING A WOMAN I AM LEARING FRENCH SHE SAID YOU CAN TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO LEARN TOO SHE WAS OK AND I TOOK HER TO THE FRENCE CLASS 10 TIMES THAT WAS 43 YEARS AGO..................

I WAS CONCERNED WHAT SHE SAID . SO I RUNG UP THE ROTORUA POLICE . THERE IS A POLICE MAN THAT IS RELATED TO HER . I WAS ON THE PHONE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES SO FAR THERE IS NOTHING WRONG

I USED TO GO TO PACK AND SAVE OFTERN EVER SICE IT WAS OPEN IN 1982 (IT WAS CALLED MARK AND PACK THEN)

I DID NOT WANT TO UPSET THE LADY MANY YEARS AGO SO I STOPPED GOING

BUT TODAY MY BEST FRIND WHO I HAVE KNOWN FOR 26 YEARS WANTS TO TO TO PACK AND SAVE I SAID YES BUT NOW I AM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GO OR NOT .

MY BEST FRIEND KNOWS HER TOO

WHAT SHALL I DO ? (I knew the woman I took to French hated me in 1981 ) In 1983 my best friend and the woman I took to French became friends I did not find out till years later rotorua is so small ( I should have known they met I asked both of them in different years WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO LEARN FRENCE . I GOT THE SAME ANSWER . at the time I thought it was just a conidince

( I don't want to upset this lady I am an old man I need good food at cheap prices And to come and go like I used to for years ) she has a very horrible step father so in some ways I feel sorry for her But I want her to leave me...

I read quite a few bad reviews on this place so it was quite tentative about visiting, but I'm quite glad that I decided to try it anyway. On arrival this is a very large store and had a lot of fresh produce which I had no trouble with as all of it that I brought from here was good quality and did seem to be fresh. I had no problems with the staff whatsoever and on further reading some of the reviews here I I'm hoping that the member of staff that has caused all the trouble I've read about may have been removed? Also, I feel that some people do not seem to understand that you need to be able to produce your passport to by alcohol here and that it is not good enough to just have a foreign driver's license, this is shown throughout the store so people should be aware of it and it is the same everywhere else in New Zealand. I had no problems whatsoever buying alcohol here. I have not personally encountered any staff who were not friendly. The shop itself as mentioned before is extremely big and they have quite a lot of produce here and the ceilings and shelves are extremely high filled with products. If you are in the area then it is well worth visiting to stock up on many different items including foods and drink and ready to eat and drink items and personal hygiene bits and everything else that a supermarket supplies is here. They have a pickup center for online orders which is straight in front of you when you walk into the shop, they also have both electronic checkout machines and the ones actually have staff members working them. No problems here whatsoever and definitely a good big supermarket with...
