Popular with dog walkers. Ok, it's not the prettiest beach, too much drift wood and shell's are always washed up. Sand is not very clear but can still make a good day out with the kids. Has some pontoons to swim to in the summer and great views. Park down the end with a little food booth. Down the opposite end, seaside cabaret is a good feed where you can sit and soak up the view. Snad dunes have had some restoration work (long way to go though) and the pier down the end has been closed. Nice walk down the far side towards eastbourne- Hikokokoi track. Read morePopular playground in a relatively, sheltered spot, with bright, coloured equipment - slides, swings, round-about, rocking horse, rope-gym - and safety padding underfoot; even the seagulls love to snuggle-down and rest on this mat! There's a little kiosk nearby for your coffee-fix and their home-made pies don't look too shabby. And also a public toilet behind the kiosk which is handy for the little ones.

There's also a playing field nearby, and of course quick access to the beach. There's also a model railway for kids and older kids alike, four circuits of the loop for $2.
