Popular with dog walkers. Ok, it's not the prettiest beach, too much drift wood and shell's are always washed up. Sand is not very clear but can still make a good day out with the kids. Has some pontoons to swim to in the summer and great views. Park down the end with a little food booth. Down the opposite end, seaside cabaret is a good feed where you can sit and soak up the view. Snad dunes have had some restoration work (long way to go though) and the pier down the end has been closed. Nice walk down the far side towards eastbourne- Hikokokoi track. Walks past some.not so nice areas but also some.nice areas (black swans, beach) and hooks up to walk through the golf course across the road (shandon)- - also a nice walk through the course here to the river mouth on the...

Popular playground in a relatively, sheltered spot, with bright, coloured equipment - slides, swings, round-about, rocking horse, rope-gym - and safety padding underfoot; even the seagulls love to snuggle-down and rest on this mat! There's a little kiosk nearby for your coffee-fix and their home-made pies don't look too shabby. And also a public toilet behind the kiosk which is handy for the little ones.

Take the nearby walkway to access the beach below and enjoy the great views while doing so, or climb the hill and checkout the Lookout to gain a good vantage point for some stunning ocean and...

Located on the Eastbourne side of the esplanade it has the playthings of a small sized playground, but that doesn't limit the amount of fun your kid can have. There's also a playing field nearby, and of course quick access to the beach. There's also a model railway for kids and older kids alike, four circuits of the loop for $2. The staff that run it are all kid-friendly, railway aficionados. I'd you're feeling hungry after all that activity there is a small shop that sells pies and other bits and pieces. Probably more but the day we went it wasn't open. All-in-all a...

Kids will be entertained for hours ALSO you have to try the empanadas or the alfajores from Marianas Kitchen at the little kiosk! It was a fairly busy day at the park when we were there with a few families enjoying what was left of a beautiful day. Parking can be tricky but the playground is worth it. If you're looking for a kids space that's manageable, close to the beach and within a stone's throw of good coffee - this is it!

A good basic playground for children 3-10 years old. Soft mat areas but no fencing. Nice and sunny with good carparking adjacent to park. A toilet block is nearby. Access to beach also. On some weekends the miniature railway is operational and children can have rides for a small fee. The park features some original mosaic art which adds a distinct flavour.

Handy location with the kids or sit down for a breather with a bite to eat. Keep the kids close if the wildlife turn up. Coffee or light snacks available nearby or a sit down meal. The beach is tranquil on a quiet day looking out at Wellington harbour. Plenty of parking all around and very easy to access with the main road adjacent.
