My husband had Chicken Khao Pud (Fried Rice), which he said was nothing special, uninspiring. I had Tofu Pud Gra Tium Prik Thai (mild) which I thought was delicious. Pros: 1. Portion sizes are good. 2. Boiled/steamed rice came at no extra cost. 3. Good and extensive range of options on the menu, including vegetarian. Cons: 1. Decor is dated and cheap. 2. They charge for literally everything, including $10 accidental damage to glasses (N/A to us). $15 cakage fee, we didn't need this, but cake for a celebration eg. birthday, I personally think a cakage fee is pretty low on the customer service scale tbh. It says a lot about the establishments understanding of customer service and it's not positive in my opinion. 3. I had to put my own food in my own "doggy bag". A first for me, usually it's taken away and returned in a container. I watched other customers have to do the same. Strange! Not great customer service. 4. I had a Rosebud cocktail and a Espresso Martini, they tasted watery to me and I couldn't taste or sense the alcohol. Boring is all I can say to the drinks. 5. Service was slow.

My sister and I had lunch here yesterday. I've been before for takeouts here and there but yesterday was my first actual dine in experience. Love the asthetics of the restaurant, so pretty, floral and inviting 😍 Great customer service from the young lady. An older lady took our order but she wasn't as warm as the younger one, a smile goes a long way maam lol. I ordered a mild curry dish and my sister ordered a noodle dish. Both took no time at all to arrive. Presentation was lovely 😍 great portions 👍🏽 and both tasted really good, it most definitely hit the spot! 🤤 Thanks again for a lovely meal. We will definitely come back again 😌

Tastes good, incredible variety of dishes, great portions, value pricing and amazing decor. Very few restaurants are as well decorated as Sabaidee, I honestly love how colourful and interesting every part of the spacious restaurant looks. With a high ceiling and plenty of seats, this would be a great place to host large gatherings and events. But you go to a restaurant for food, so how was that? For it's price range, it is amazing. ~$25 will be enough for a number of full meals which come with sauces, meat, vegetables and soup.

OMG! YOUR RESPONSE IS EVEN MORE INSULTING!! - Posted 02 September 2024

We did not think that things could have got worse. Instead of apologising and taking responsibility, you have just made excuses and given an inaccurate account of what actually happened.

We did not want to cause a scene at the restaurant so we left and rang back to speak to the Manager. We were put on hold and were ignored as no one came to the phone to take our concern.

You say we were spoken to when we paid the bill. This is an inaccurate account as no one spoke to me when I paid for the account. Not once did anyone mention the broken glass. It was our adult daughter that was approached when she left the restaurant after I had already paid and left your restaurant.

You say your broken glassware policy is advertised everywhere in the restaurant so diners can eat in comfort in case of breakages. Interesting the way this has been portrayed. Is this something diners should be thankful for?

The point is, we asked for a more appropriate dish because our mokopuna is a 6 year old. You say your staff are fluent in english so are you saying our request was just ignored because your waitress did not bring a more age appropriate dish out or even highlight to us your policy.

Please be tika and pono and take responsibility for a situation that could have been handled a lot differently.

APPALLING REQUEST!

We (whānau of 6 sometimes 22 of us) have been going to Sabaidee since it opened and have been very very loyal customers. Our last visit was OUTRAGEOUS!

We asked if there was a child’s dessert menu and was told no which was a surprise as we have seen many little people visit this restaurant so we thought like many others Sabaidee would cater for little people. Despite the extremely over priced cookies & cream ice cream (2 under sized balls, nothing special) we paid $15. for our 6 year mokopuna. We clearly paid for the serving dish as it came out in a fancy glass which we cautioned because our mokopuna is 6. Unfortunately, before she could even start eating her ice cream she had an accident and knocked it off the table, breaking the fancy glass. We apologised for the accident however the waitresses were clearly upset because despite speaking in their own language so we couldn’t understand which quite frankly is rude, their body language towards our mokopuna spoke volumes.

We paid for our meals of $146 collected the last of our things from the table and while proceeding to leave the restaurant we were chased down literally! We we’re asked to pay a surcharge of $10 for the broken dish. WOW!

This is enough for us to not go back to Sabaidee or recommend them like we have done to others.

BEWARE! Read the fine print. Ask if you break anything whether you must pay...

Ordered food @ 6.05pm, entrees arrived 15mins later - which i consider quite late? The main came 30- 40mins later, that was after we enquired with the maitre d..who had a very condescending attitude. One of our party did not an entree, so shouldve got his main waay earlier. We had another booked event to attend to after the dinner, which really delayed us & actually put a downer on the rest of our evening. We ended up not finishing our meals & had to ask for take away containers to take our leftovers - which by way cost $1, which is fine (we didn't mind paying) but they didn't tell us this before hand. And to be honest they shouldve skipped that charge of the take away containers considering they were late with the meals. Overall meals were large & decent priced but wait time was too long. The wait staff were very nice.

Response - it shouldn't be "imparitive" to give notice, as we had allowed ourselves a 1.5hours time frame for the meal. Which is why we booked other event after 7.30pm.

Main were not served in a timely manner after entrees..as I stated in previous post, they were served between 30 - 40mins?

My bad 😏 for not reading the whole menu, word for word that the containers cost $1. It still would've been courteous & in good faith to be informed at the time.

I believe your maitre d is highly respected to some but my experience was not of agood nature. Thats my opinion.

There must be something wrong with your system because our booking was @ 6pm? Which i stated in my last post that we ordered @ 6.05pm? We had already left the restaurant by 7.18pm, so not sure who you serve food to just 7.30pm? 🤷‍♀️

We are well aware of the conversation regarding the entree first & the mains after, to which we did agree to - that wasn't the issue. It was the delivery time of the mains after the entrees? It was served 30 - 40mins after. When I had enquired about the delay, the Matrie D told me "I will go & tell them to start cooking?" Within 10mins our mains...

Good Food, Disappointing Policies

I recently visited here with my family to celebrate my son's 7th birthday. While the food was enjoyable, I was disappointed by the restaurant's policies and overall approach to customer service.

Firstly, I must mention that the food was delicious. Our meals were flavorful and well-prepared, which added to the enjoyment of our family dinner.

However, I was taken aback when one of my nieces accidentally broke a glass. Instead of understanding the nature of accidents, the staff informed us that we would be charged $10 for the broken glass. It seemed unfair and unwelcoming, as accidents are an inevitable part of dining experiences, especially when children are involved.

To make matters worse, when we brought out the birthday cake for my son, we were informed that there would be an additional $15 charge for serving it. Birthdays are meant to be special occasions, and it is customary for many establishments to provide complimentary services, such as serving birthday cakes. This unexpected charge left a sour taste in our mouths and dampened the celebratory atmosphere.

It became evident that Sabaidee Pah Khao Lao Restaurant‘S business model prioritises micromanaging minor incidents to maximise profit, rather than fostering a pleasant and customer-oriented environment. This approach is disheartening and lacks the generosity and understanding that many other places exhibit.

Regrettably, these disappointing policies overshadowed the positive aspects of our dining experience at Sabaidee Pah Khao Lao Restaurant. Due to this, I have decided that I will not be returning to the restaurant in the future.

I sincerely hope that Sabaidee reevaluates its policies to prioritise customer satisfaction and goodwill, as it is these qualities that truly contribute to the long-term success of any...
