Soprano Petone has always been one of my favorite Italian restaurants, so when we were invited for dinner here I had been dreaming of Italian food since! We started off with some beautiful drinks, I immediately zoned my eyes onto the creamy soda and my friend went for the sneaky Sunrise (both mocktails). I love how the place was decked out in pretty fairy lights and vines, there are another three rooms at the back if you want a more secluded dining experience. I must admit, I have never had burrata before, but have watched so many videos online about it, so this had to be ordered! Then we decided to get 2 small pasta dishes (they are actually really big for a small!) instead of one large one because FOMO! Actually still missed out because there were so many to choose from that we had to skip on! I had my eyes on the marinara, so this is going on my list for next time! My friend said he really loves a good Osso buco and this was also the first main that popped out to me, so it was at least an easy consensual choice. The burrata was so good, it was gooey and the balsamic vinegar really made the flavour pop, dip the bread in with the tomato and the pesto and the flavour just bursts in your mouth, the ciabatta was also homemade! The gnocchi was super creamy and cheesy, and if you love cheese this cannot be missed! When you have a craving for an Italian cheesy dish, this is it! The risotto has a very fragrant panchetta flavour coming through and the rice was cooked just right, (dare I say it has a nice wok flavour 🤣) and the chewiness of the mushroom works very well here. Then came the main affair which was the venison, OMG it just melts in your mouth, please do not laugh at me in the video because I got too excited and tried to cut it with the back of the knife 🤣 as you can see, who needs the front of the knife for this!? The meat just fell apart and super tender and juicy, the parsnip puree was so creamy and the sauce was very umami, the surprise thing for me was the kale, which is not technically my favorite food in the world, but it soaked up all the flavours and I think this is probably the best one can do with kale! The bonus of course is the bone marrow, which was very well gelatinised, packed full of flavours and tender, this topped the night! We of course had to get the tiramisu at an Italian restaurant, and tossing up between the other desserts, we were recommended the flourless chocolate torte. The velvety chocolate accompanied by the rich Berry gelato were the perfect finish to the meal, and the creamy tiramisu had a fragrant hit of coffee, with a friendly service, this is going on my top Italian restaurant list in...

Our recent visit to Soprano Italian Restaurant in Petone was a delightful journey into authentic Italian cuisine. As a group of ten, we were warmly welcomed into the restaurant's cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Culinary Highlights:
Starters: The calamari was tender and flavorful, complemented perfectly by the crispy garlic bread. The chunky fries were a hit, offering a satisfying crunch with each bite.
Main Courses: The penne chicken pasta stood out with its rich and creamy sauce, making it a favourite among our group. Some guests noted that their prosciutto wrapped chicken breast stuffed with spinach, and ricotta was slightly dry, but the overall flavors remained commendable.
Service and Ambience:
While the restaurant was bustling, the staff remained courteous and attentive. There was a noticeable wait between our starters and main courses, which led to some impatience among our party. This delay influenced our decision to skip dessert, though the menu offered tempting options that we hope to try on a future visit.
Conclusion:
Soprano Italian Caffe offers a genuine Italian dining experience with a menu that caters to diverse palates. Despite minor setbacks in service timing, the quality of the food and the warm ambience make it a restaurant worth revisiting. We look forward to returning, perhaps in a smaller group, to fully enjoy all that Soprano...
Read moreAbsolutely shocking. I pick this place because of the reviews and photos. But don't get fool, this place is everything but not what is on the photos. First, cold and smelly as they seated us on the front of the kitchen. And you are pointing front window which looks like hasn't been cleaned in 30 years. Table 50cmx50cm so after bucket with flowers I gave to my wife and bottle plus glass of water took a place there, there wasn't a space for comfortable eating or your drinks. Next, starters. Bruschetta came cold. First bite and it was burnt and bitter. It was like eating charcoal. Then mains. Pasta I ordered did looks good, too big portion, but tasted like caned spaghetti mixed with extra tomato paste. Quite sour and accidic. My wife's main totaly unedible. Pan-fried grouper, with roasted potatoes or vegetables was drowned in brot like liquid and so accidic that I could not swallow that first bite. Only that waitress served us that night was quite good and she tried everything to make us more comfortable, so thank you for your help I really appreciate it. But the food and...
