I'm torn about what to score this restaurant, but felt too strongly about my recent experiences to not share them here. The food from this restaurant is outstanding. It's among the best curry I've had, and consistently so. It makes no difference what you order, it's all amazing.
But unfortunately, that's not the only thing they do consistently.
After my last three times visiting them for takeaways, I'm not sure I will be going back. I phone them, place my order, then ask how long it will take. Then I add at least ten minutes (usually more), then arrive and find I have to wait considerably longer. In the worst case, I had to sit in the restaurant and wait for about 20 minutes. When I (and others I know) have complained about this the staff seemed extremely blase about it.
I understand that cooking food takes time. It that's the case, just say how long it will realistically take. Don't make promises you can't keep just because you think it will make people happy. People have better things to do with their lives that sit around in a restaurant waiting for a takeaway meal to be cooked after they've already waited at home.
I'm not sure what advice I would give to people, as the food is amazing. Perhaps just avoid takeaway and stick to dine in, since I've never had an...
Read moreUsed to be my go-to Indian Restaurant in all of Palmerston North (I've eaten at several) as the best flavour/quality, portion and price but it is no longer so. As of recently they SIGNIFICANTLY raised their prices across the board by an average of $9-10!
My regular order was Lamb Biryani, it used to be $16.50 which I admit was probably underpriced for it's quality and would accept even if it was sold for $19-21 with regard to inflation. Instead it now costs $25 similar to most Indian Restaurants located around the City Centre. As if they threw in the towel for competition and called it a done deal. I have since found a new Indian restaurant that has as good quality of a Biryani whilst keeping a reasonable price.
Furthermore their service became slower over the recent months where I'd order something, it would say pickup at XX.XX time and I would with consistency recieve my order 5-10 minutes late every time. Several times they got my order wrong too and I had to check the order before leaving the restaurant.
Suffice to say, their service quality has gone down and their price has gone up and is no longer an outstanding Indian...
Read moreUsually a fan of local hospitality businesses, but do need to share our experience here, as it was a bit too much to just look away.
Rang up Thursday and booked in table for 3 on Friday, with time enough to allow 90 minutes for a curry with friends before heading to a show at the Globe Theatre @ 8.
Arrived Friday evening @ 6.30 to find there was a group booking of c. 30 that had arrived before us and had yet to get their food. Were assured we'd get food quickly as we were a smaller booking, but that didn't happen.
An hour later when our curries did arrive, unfortunately things didn't get better. One was too salty to even eat, and another was borderline. With no time left before the show to really do anything about it, and no 'how was everything' query from staff, we simply paid and left.
To their credit, the starters were tasty, and it was clean and tidy. But way to slow for having made a booking, and something going very wrong with the salt in...
