DO NOT USE
Booked property in Lake Tekapo. Room descriptions are not as advertised (admitted by Zicky on the phone) and when we discussed this, Zicky became verbally abusive, discriminated against me because of me accent and shouted at us over the phone.
A few minuted later, Zicky actually turned up at the property (we did not ask) and demanded that we cancel and go somewhere else. She brought another unidentified person with her and intimidated us into cancelling our booking and leaving the property there and then, it was lake at night in a small town, we didn't even know if we had anywhere else to go.
Zicky was shouting and continued to rude and abusive and intimidated us into leaving the property.
Booking.com reviews are good but it's my belief that when there are issues, staff force guests to leave and cancel the booking so that they then cannot write a review, hence the review score remaining highg. If you look elsewhere on smaller sites, it other guests have had some similar experiences.
Distance Co management, you need to do something about the behaviour if your staff, I have never been intimidated into leaving and risking sleeping in my car anywhere! The whole place smelled like either fish or curry, including all 3 bedrooms and sheets. When we raised this with Zuki, she promised to bring a room spray. However this didn't happen until after 9pm, even tho we raised it at 6pm. By that time we were already nearly in bed and had endured the pungent smell during our dinner.
The rest of the facilities was great though, since it's a nearly new place. Zuki was initially really helpful and polite on the phone to gain access to the location, she just didn't action anything in a timely fashion to resolve the issue raised.
I also got sent a message addressed as "Hi John" and never received the check in email, so somebody was possibly on auto pilot that day.
We suggest to add scented candles or diffusers to overshadow the food smell...
