Picton Memorial Park — Attraction in South Island

Great place to hang out with families and friends. This is definitely at place for summer. Lot of people were hanging around when we visited end of Jan. People were swimming, rowing, kayaking and using the jet skies. People were also allows to walk their dog. There is also a water feature to entertain the kids. Ice cream truck is there to sell ice cream. Beautiful view of the sea and hill. Just need to keep your eyes on your kids. Definitely, a place for someone who loves the sea and breeze. It's quite a nice place to have some relaxing time amidst the gorgeous greenery, beautiful blue skies and Picton waterfront. There are few play equipments for both small kids and bigger kids. The wooden play ship/boat is the best place to be when the sun is high up. There's a mini golf course and paid play area, along with a shallow pond where you can often catch ducks at play.

I wonder what times do the water games work, as it seemingly starts and stops randomly. Also, it would be good to have some more shade over the swings as the sun often shines right...

While the park facilities are great, the true highlight of our visit to the Picton Memorial Park was the statues. The guardians were overlooking the park and created a Disneyland like environment. We found them absolutely intriguing. Apparently they were previously at a mini-putt but they maintained the statues to retain history...
